Biochemist –
- AI Data Trainer
About The Role
Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to train and refine cutting-edge models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to make sure those models get the science right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where you'll use your domain knowledge to challenge, audit, and improve how AI reasons through complex biochemical problems — from protein folding to enzyme kinetics. No AI background required. If you can spot a flawed metabolic pathway or a stoichiometry error, you're exactly who we're looking for.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems —
- Craft advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions —
- Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific accuracy.
- Audit AI Outputs —
- Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical correctness, safety, and adherence to scientific standards.
- Identify and Fix Reasoning Errors —
- Catch logical failures like incorrect stoichiometry, misunderstood stereochemistry, or flawed mechanistic reasoning, and provide structured feedback to improve AI thinking.
Who You Are
- Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
- Able to communicate highly technical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
- Detail-oriented — you notice errors in complex equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental logic
- Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously on your own schedule
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic peer review
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
Why Join Us
- Work on some of the most advanced AI projects in the world, alongside top research labs
- Fully remote and versatile — work on your own terms, on your own schedule
- Contribute to work that directly shapes how AI understands life science
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
