The Black Achievers Mentorship Coordinator is responsible for supporting the growth and delivery of the Black Achievers mentorship program by strengthening the recruitment, engagement, and development of mentors who support Black youth. This role builds and maintains relationships with community and organizational partners to expand mentorship opportunities and enhance program reach. The position contributes to the consistency, quality, and sustainability of the mentorship model by coordinating key program activities and supporting positive experiences for mentors and participants.

In this role, you will:

- Develop and align mentor recruitment strategies with overall program goals and outcomes, including expansion into new communities such as the Durham region.
- Contribute to the development of a sustainable mentorship model across all program sites.
- Build partnerships with corporate, community, and grassroots organizations to expand the mentor pool.
- Ensure mentor recruitment reflects the diversity and lived experiences of Black communities.
- Design and facilitate mentor training sessions focused on youth engagement, anti-Black racism awareness, and mentorship best practices.
- Ensure mentors understand program expectations, curriculum, and youth needs.
- Coordinate mentor-mentee matching based on interests, goals, and lived experience.
- Support program delivery by collaborating with facilitators and case managers.
- Conduct outreach campaigns, information sessions, and networking events to engage potential mentors.
- Coordinate background checks, documentation, and program orientation.
- Ensure mentors are prepared for weekly sessions, workshops, and events.
- Maintain ongoing communication and provide support to mentors.
- Facilitate regular check-ins, feedback loops,



and mentor meetings.
- Create opportunities for mentors to connect, share experiences, and build community.
- Monitor mentor participation and proactively address challenges.
- Track engagement, including attendance, interactions, and outcomes, and maintain accurate records.
- Collect and analyze feedback from mentors and participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

You bring:

- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in community outreach and engagement, volunteer/mentor coordination, and youth programming, preferably with Black or equity-deserving communities.
- Experience working across multiple community locations is an asset.
- Strong understanding of anti-Black racism and systemic barriers impacting Black youth, as well as culturally responsive and Afrocentric approaches to programming.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Program coordination and organization skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design.
