Join Our Team The Nanaimo Child Development Centre (NCDC) is seeking a compassionate and cooperative Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) to join our multidisciplinary team.

About the Position The Behaviour Consultant supports children and youth with developmental, behavioural, emotional regulation, communication, participation, safety, and functional support needs.

Working in partnership with families, caregivers, educators, childcare providers, clinicians, and community partners, the Behaviour Consultant provides assessment, consultation, coaching, collaborative planning, and individualized behavioural support. Services are provided in the environments where children and youth live, learn, play, and participate, including homes, childcare settings, schools, community locations, and the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

The successful candidate will bring specialized knowledge in behavioural assessment, emotional regulation, functional skill development, and Positive Behaviour Support. They will develop practical strategies that promote dignity, autonomy, belonging, inclusion, meaningful participation, safety, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess children’s and youths’ behavioural, emotional regulation, communication, participation, safety, social connection, and functional support needs.




- Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team members to identify meaningful goals and develop individualized support strategies.
- Develop and evaluate Positive Behaviour Support Plans grounded in family-centred, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming practice.
- Provide evidence-informed consultation, coaching, modelling, and collaborative problem-solving to families, caregivers, educators, childcare providers, staff, and community partners.
- Support children and youth across home, childcare, school, recreation, community, and Centre-based settings.
- Monitor progress and adapt strategies in response to ongoing evaluation, changing needs, and family feedback.
- Participate in case consultations, integrated service planning, team meetings, and collaborative decision-making.
- Support transitions into childcare, school, community activities, and other important environments and routines.
- Coordinate or co-facilitate parent education, therapeutic groups, and skill-building opportunities.
- Contribute to team learning, reflective practice, program planning, and quality-improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, reports, electronic records, and collaborative service plans.
- Ensure services comply with professional, ethical, organizational, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

- Current Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) designation.
- Registration with the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) as a Behaviour Analyst, Category A, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children and youth with developmental, behavioural, emotional regulation, and functional support needs.
- Experience developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and cooperative support strategies.




- Experience working within multidisciplinary, family-centred, and community-based service models is preferred.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check.
