Intermediate to Senior Bookkeeper
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate to Senior Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. This full-time, in office position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple client files, takes ownership of their work, and can deliver accurate and timely bookkeeping with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Xero, solid accounting fundamentals, and experience working in an accounting, bookkeeping, or multi-client environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFull-Cycle Bookkeeping
· Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries.
· Record and categorize financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers.
· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Perform bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Record fixed assets, prepaid expenses, shareholder transactions, loans, and other balance sheet items.
· Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries.
· Investigate discrepancies and maintain organized supporting documentation.
Month-End & Year-End
· Complete month-end bookkeeping, job costing, reconciliations, and closing procedures.
· Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
· Review Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.
· Prepare year-end working papers and supporting schedules.
· Identify and resolve bookkeeping issues before files are submitted for year-end.
· Work with accountants to respond to year-end questions and post required adjustments.
Payroll & Government Reporting
· Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records.
· Prepare payroll remittances and reconciliations.
· Assist with T4s, T4As, ROEs, and year-end payroll requirements.
· Prepare and file GST/HST returns.
· Assist with WSIB and EHT filings, where applicable.
· Monitor government filing and payment deadlines.
Client & Team Support
· Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and resolve bookkeeping questions.
· Follow up on missing documentation and outstanding transactions.
· Identify unusual transactions, inconsistencies, and potential errors.
· Provide proactive updates regarding client files and deadlines.
· Collaborate with accountants, managers, and other bookkeeping team members.
· Help improve bookkeeping workflows, checklists, processes, and documentation.
· Provide guidance or support to junior bookkeeping staff when required.
Qualifications & BenefitsMust-Have Qualifications
· 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably in an accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, or multi-client environment.
· Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
· Working proficiency with Xero.
· Strong knowledge of full-cycle bookkeeping and general ledger accounting.
· Experience with job costing.
· Strong understanding of debits and credits.
· Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
· Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Experience preparing GST/HST returns.
· Experience processing payroll and payroll remittances.
· Experience completing month-end bookkeeping and reconciliations.
· Ability to prepare accurate, organized files for year-end accountants.
· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple client files and competing deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned files.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work full-time, on-site, possibility for Hybrid after probation period.
Nice-to-Have Skills The following would be considered assets:
· Experience working in a public accounting or bookkeeping firm.
· QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
· Xero Advisor certification.
· Experience with Dext, Hubdoc, Wagepoint, Plooto, or similar cloud accounting applications.
· Experience with accounting practice management or workflow software.
· Experience preparing year-end working paper packages.
· Experience with T4s, T4As, ROEs, WSIB, and EHT.
· Experience working with owner-managed businesses and professional corporations.
· Experience cleaning up or converting accounting files.
· Experience with bookkeeping automation and cloud accounting technology.
· Experience reviewing, training, or mentoring junior bookkeepers.
· College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Work Schedule & Compensation
This is a full-time, permanent, on-site position, Monday to Friday during regular business hours.
Office Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Salary Range: $50,000– $60,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
