PlantBest is looking for a Business Analyst Intern to join our team in Markham, ON this Fall (Co-op, 4 months).

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real impact in a mission-driven, entrepreneurial environment — you'll dive into:

? Market Intelligence

Map global coconut coir demand across agriculture, lawn & garden retail, and water-stressed regions, and build an opportunity ranking model to guide market entry recommendations.

? Competitive Analysis

Lead competitor scans across marketplaces like Amazon, benchmark pricing, packaging, and product positioning, and uncover innovation opportunities in coir-based products.

? Executive Deliverables

Create presentations, reports, and social content that bring sustainability strategy to life, working alongside suppliers, associations, and retail partners.

We're looking for someone from a program in Environment, Business, or a related field, with strong research and analytical skills, a passion for sustainability, and the drive to turn insights into action.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support evidence-based recommendations.
- Candidates should possess Business Analysis capabilities to gather requirements, assess business needs, and contribute to solution design.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to present findings clearly, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document insights.
- Candidates should possess understanding of Business Process concepts to map workflows, identify inefficiencies, and suggest improvements.
- Candidates should possess ability to work with Business Requirements, translating stakeholder needs into explicit, structured documentation.
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree in Environment, Business, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets; exposure to BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is an asset).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in sustainability, agriculture, horticulture, or environmentally responsible products is an advantage.
