Position: Business & Technology Integration – Business Process Designer (Workday Payroll & Time Tracking Lead)

Duration: Contract Opportunity (Extension Possible)

Client Location: Calgary, Alberta

Engagement Model: Remote within Canada with Monthly Travel to Calgary

About the Engagement

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Workday Payroll & Time Tracking Lead to support a large-scale Finance Transformation Program. This role will be responsible for the remediation, design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday Payroll (Canada), Time Tracking, and Absence modules, while ensuring compliance, scalability, and operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert and collaborate closely with HR, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver workforce management solutions that align with organizational objectives.

What Will the Successful Candidate Do?

The Workday Payroll & Time Tracking Lead's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead functional design workshops and requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders.
- Configure and optimize Workday Payroll business processes, pay groups, earnings, deductions, and tax setups.
- Configure Workday Time Tracking rules, including overtime calculations, shift premiums, accruals, and compliance requirements.
- Support and lead end-to-end testing activities, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and parallel payroll runs.
- Troubleshoot payroll processing issues, retro-pay calculations, time tracking discrepancies, and integration-related challenges.




- Collaborate with integration teams to manage inbound/outbound EIBs and third-party vendor integrations.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and technical teams to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- Build and validate advanced Workday reports to support data validation, reconciliation, and business decision-making.
- Ensure payroll and time tracking configurations align with Canadian legislative and compliance requirements.
- Support project deliverables, documentation, issue resolution, and go-live activities.

Must-Have Skills

- Workday Payroll
- Workday Time Tracking

Required Experience

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking.
- 5+ years preferred.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of Workday experience focused on Payroll and Time Tracking modules.
- Active Workday Payroll Certification.
- Active Workday Time Tracking Certification.
- Proven experience leading Payroll and Time Tracking workstreams through full lifecycle Workday implementations.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations, legislative compliance, and leave management practices.
- Experience supporting complex payroll environments,



including unionized workforce structures.
- Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll processing best practices.
- Advanced reporting and data validation experience within Workday.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements

- Must be available to work within Eastern or Mountain Time zones.
- Ability and willingness to travel to Calgary on a monthly basis, as required by the project.
- Strong consulting and client-facing experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional project teams in a fast-paced setting.
