Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an opportunity for a Buyer. Reporting to the Project Services Manager, this position is located in our Trail, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing key supply chain management support on mining projects. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities

- Under direction from the Project Procurement Manager and Supply Chain Lead, purchasing of equipment & materials for mining projects
- Expediting & processing shipping releases
- Committing purchase orders and maintaining controls to monitor supplier performance and conformance to commercial terms
- Participating in lead supplier negotiations regarding commercial terms & conditions for purchase of equipment and bulk materials
- Updating and maintaining procurement plans
- Developing and maintaining Request for Quotations (RFQ's) and Purchase Orders (PO's) within Wood's integrated project management system
- Expediting vendor data and material delivery

Skills / Qualifications

- 5-7 years purchasing experience in a heavy industrial environment




- Technical diploma or engineering degree in a relevant discipline is an asset
- Advanced computer skills and experience in a data base environment
- Robust organization and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Construction field experience is an asset
- Convero, or comparable ERP experience, is an asset
