Nature of the Work &
Responsibilities
NATURE OF THE WORK:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assisting the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of laboratory work, field work and workshops.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and provide appropriate assistance to students;
Oversee the operation and supervision of the laboratories;
Assist teachers in developmental work related to Language Laboratory;
Provide computer-assisted skills in support of language teaching and evaluation;
Interact with and assist students with language difficulties as appropriate;
Assist in the administration of language placement and other testing in the Language Laboratory;
Maintain equipment, performing minor cleaning, repair and adjustments and/or placing service calls as needed;
Prepare Language Lab schedules;
Research available technologies and resources;
Maintain an inventory of resources:
Install and test language computer programs;
Work with teachers in the delivery of language instruction;
Perform other related duties.
Qualifications & Conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
To have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
CONDITIONS:
Excellent familiarity with the use of computers for language instruction
Advanced communication skills (oral and written) in French (testing may be required)
Advanced English communication skills (testing may be required)
Basic skills in MS Word (testing may be required)
Knowledge of Lanschool, an asset
