CGS North America Inc. is looking for an experienced CAD/CAM Applications Engineer to join our team supporting CAM-TOOL customers throughout North America.

We specialize in advanced CAD/CAM solutions for high-precision CNC machining, with a strong focus on the mold and die industry. Our customers rely on us not simply to provide software, but to help them develop reliable machining processes, improve surface finish, reduce machining time, and get the most out of their CNC equipment.

This position is ideal for an experienced CNC programmer, machinist, or CAD/CAM applications professional who enjoys solving difficult machining problems and working directly with customers.

Responsibilities

- Provide technical support for CAM-TOOL CAD/CAM software.
- Train customers on CAM-TOOL, both online and in person.
- Assist customers with CNC programming, machining strategies, and troubleshooting.
- Create and optimize 3-axis, 3 2, and 5-axis machining processes.
- Assist with post processors, machine configurations, and machine simulation.
- Review customer parts and recommend effective machining strategies.
- Support software demonstrations, evaluations, and customer test cuts.
- Work directly with customers to troubleshoot programming and machining issues.
- Assist our sales team with technical questions during the sales process.
- Work with our development and technical teams in Japan when additional support is required.
- Help develop training materials, technical documentation, and customer resources.
- Occasionally travel throughout Canada and the United States for customer training, demonstrations, trade shows, and technical support.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for someone with strong real-world CNC machining and programming knowledge. Previous CAM-TOOL experience is an advantage but is not required.



We can provide CAM-TOOL training to the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong CNC machining and CNC programming experience.
- Experience with 3-axis milling; 5-axis machining experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Solid understanding of G-code and M-code.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding, machining practices, and CNC setup.
- Experience machining molds, dies, tooling, or other high-precision components is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers with different levels of experience.
- Comfortable providing customer training and presenting software demonstrations.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with our North American and Japanese technical teams.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Canada and the United States.

Experience creating or modifying CNC post processors and working with machine simulation is considered a strong asset.

Technical knowledge is important, but we are also looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping customers.

Our applications team works directly with CNC programmers, machinists, shop owners, and manufacturing engineers. The right person should be patient, professional, approachable, and willing to work through challenging applications until we find a solution.





We are particularly interested in candidates who have spent significant time programming and machining parts themselves and understand the realities of working on the shop floor.

CGS North America provides sales, training, and technical support for CAM-TOOL, a high-end CAD/CAM system specializing in mold and die machining and other demanding high-precision applications.

CAM-TOOL is known for high-accuracy surface-based toolpath calculation, advanced 3-axis and 5-axis machining strategies, excellent surface finishes, and machining applications requiring tight tolerances.

We work with manufacturers throughout North America and are supported by the CAM-TOOL development and technical teams at C&G; Systems in Japan.

Travel: Occasional travel throughout Canada and the United States

Compensation: Competitive salary based on machining, CAD/CAM, applications, and customer-support experience.
