About the Client A warm and determined 79-year-old woman recovering from a stroke (August 2025). She has a loving, hands-on family and an incredible will to improve. She enjoys conversation, humor, and participating actively in her daily rehab and activities.
She is living with limited mobility and partial vision impairment. Her left arm and leg have limited movement, and her left-side vision is affected. She requires help to safely notice and use her left side, and all transfers or mobility must be assisted.
She is able to stand or take a few guided steps during transfers, but primarily uses a wheelchair for mobility. Because of these challenges, she requires one-on-one care for transfers (uses a transfer pole and/or belt).
Role Overview The Care Aide provides compassionate, attentive, and skilled support in the home. This role combines personal care, mobility assistance, light homemaking, meal preparation and encouragement of therapy routines. The ideal candidate will help the client stay safe, engaged, and motivated through her recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with secure transfers: bed ↔ wheelchair ↔ toilet ↔ chair.
- Support activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, and toileting.
- Prepare meals and snacks (client eats independently).
- Administer and record daily medications as per written instructions.
- Maintain a daily care log (medication times, exercises completed, progress notes).
- Encourage and assist with daily exercises and prescribed rehab routines (gentle range-of-motion, left-side awareness, supported walking practice).
- Perform light housekeeping (laundry, kitchen tidy-up, dusting, sweeping, organizing personal areas).
- Support social and cognitive engagement — conversation, simple games, music, and short outings walking with wheelchair.
- Communicate regularly with family on client’s progress, safety, and any concerns.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience supporting stroke recovery and mobility assistance not necessary but highly valued. Training provided.
- Able to safely assist with transfers and wheelchair mobility (training provided).
- Patient, observant, and skilled at encouraging left-side awareness.
- Reliable, compassionate, and confident working independently in a home setting.
- Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
