Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate RECE Assistant Supervisor for a short-term contract to lead and support early childhood education programs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's development by overseeing classroom activities, guiding caregiving staff, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment. Qualifications:

- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in valuable standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a licensed childcare setting, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education licensing requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Toronto Children's Services policies, Toronto Public Health requirements, AQI, and CWELCC guidelines.
- Experience working within a non-profit childcare environment and a shared school setting is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, community partners, and school personnel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Lillio (formerly HiMama).
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check

- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills, with sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong administrative and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate records, monitoring compliance requirements, supporting staffing and scheduling, and handling confidential information appropriately.

Duties

- Support the day-to-day operation of the childcare centre and assume leadership responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence.
- Ensure programs and practices comply with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Ministry of Education requirements, organizational policies, and applicable health and safety standards.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, guidance, and support to RECEs, assistants, students, and volunteers.
- Assist with staff scheduling, attendance, room coverage, supply staffing, and maintaining required staffing ratios.
- Support staff onboarding, orientation, training, professional development, coaching, and performance management.
- Review program plans and staff observations to ensure programming is developmentally appropriate, inclusive, engaging, and responsive to children’s interests and needs.
- Monitor licensing requirements, centre documentation, staff records, and compliance standards; assist with licensing visits, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Support enrolment, waitlist management, attendance records, administrative reporting, and CWELCC requirements.
- Respond to parent and family inquiries, concerns,



and feedback professionally while fostering positive relationships and open communication.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with families, community partners, Child Development Institute (CDI), and school partners.
- Participate in and support staff and Parent Board meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and providing operational updates.
- Assist with ordering supplies, resource management, budget monitoring, and other administrative functions as directed by the Supervisor.
- Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with TDSB administration, teachers, caretaking staff, and other school partners.
- Coordinate the shared use of classrooms, gymnasiums, outdoor spaces, and common areas while ensuring the safety and continuity of childcare operations.
- Support communication and planning related to school activities, maintenance, construction projects, safety concerns, and other building-related matters that may affect childcare operations.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, professional, and child-centred workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the centre.

Working Conditions

- Work is performed within a licensed childcare centre operating in a shared Toronto District School Board facility.
- The role requires flexibility to support program operations, staffing needs, and emergency situations.
- Duties may involve standing, walking, lifting, and active participation in children's programs and outdoor activities.
