Reporting to the Recruitment Manager, the Volunteer Recruitment Officer (VRO) plays a key role in growing and strengthening the Catalyste+ volunteer roster. The VRO is responsible for guiding prospective volunteers through the full intake and onboarding process, ensuring all interviews, training, references, and policy requirements are completed accurately and on time.In addition, the VRO supports external recruitment and roster development initiatives, proactively identifying and engaging new volunteer talent through speaking engagements, referrals, partnerships, paid advertising, networks, and social media channels.The successful candidate may be based in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, or the Northwest Territories. This position is primarily remote, with a hybrid work arrangement in Toronto, requiring in-office presence one day per week.Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Intake & OrientationSupport and manage the end-to-end intake process for new volunteers joining Catalyste+.Screen candidates through resume review to assess alignment with roster needs, including skills, experience, sector expertise, and cultural adaptability.Conduct candidate interviews and reference checks, with support from trained volunteer interviewers as needed.Set up and manage volunteer system accounts, providing troubleshooting support for login, password, and access issues.Ensure all intake requirements are completed in a timely manner, accurately uploaded into internal databases, and that volunteer status is updated to "active."External Recruitment & Roster DevelopmentIdentify and recommend current sources and strategies for both active and passive recruitment (e.G.,
social media, referral programs, partnerships, targeted outreach).Research relevant organizations and associations to build a strong recruitment pipeline and support long-term strategic partnerships.Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, industry associations, and professional networks to expand recruitment reach.Proactively create and support engagement strategies to recruit volunteers in high-priority sectors and regions.Engagement & Relationship ManagementProvide exceptional customer service and a positive onboarding experience for volunteers.Support and participate in the facilitation of training initiatives, webinars, and presentations.Act as an ambassador for Catalyste+, promoting it as a best-in-class volunteer organization at internal and external events.Knowledge, Skills & QualificationsProficiency in English, and French is required.Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is an asset.University degree or college diploma (or equivalent); knowledge of International Development is considered an asset.3–5 years of experience in volunteer recruitment,
or a related talent acquisition role.Proven ability to conduct interviews using a variety of styles and assessment techniques.Strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand stakeholder needs and deliver effective solutions.Ability to manage high volumes of emails, calls, and data in a fast-paced environment.Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently.Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills with confident presentation abilities.Comfortable representing Catalyste+ at external events and engagement opportunities.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database/CRM systems.Strong alignment with and commitment to Catalyste+'s mission and values.Total Compensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $50,000 – $55,000, commensurate with experience.At Catalyste+, we take a people-first approach to compensation, offering a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support our team while they do meaningful, impactful work.
