Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN-S) is inviting nominations for the position of Clerk of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly (MNLA).

The Clerk plays an important role in supporting the work of the MNLA and helping ensure that its proceedings are carried out with integrity, fairness, and respect for process. This position provides non-partisan procedural guidance and helps ensure meetings and legislative business are conducted in accordance with MNLA legislation, particularly the MNLA Act. The Clerk is appointed by the MNLA based on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly Officers Committee.

The term of appointment for the Clerk is four (4) years, subject to reappointment.

Role and Responsibilities

As outlined in Article Six of the MNLA Act, the Clerk is responsible for:

- compiling the documentation required for the Order of the Day;
- preparing the agenda for the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly, as directed by the Provincial Métis Council and the MNLA Resolutions Committee;
- obtaining and maintaining certified copies of the Assembly minutes from the Speaker;
- providing certified minutes to members of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly;
- securing an independent person or agency to record the minutes and proceedings of the Assembly;
- reviewing Appeals to confirm legislative and regulatory requirements have been met, and forwarding eligible Appeals to the Provincial Métis Council for consideration as additions to the agenda;




- notifying the Appellant and Respondent of the status and decision regarding a request for Appeal;
- ensuring the necessary staff are in place to support the Assembly, and appointing a Deputy Clerk where needed; and
- serving as Clerk at the Annual General Assembly.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Nominees should demonstrate

- knowledge of governance, legislative procedures, or administrative practices;
- robust organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills;
- the ability to act with neutrality, professionalism, and confidentiality;
- familiarity with Métis governance structures, culture, and values is considered an asset;

Preference will be given to MN-S Citizens.

Nomination Package Requirements To ensure a fair and transparent process, all nominations must include the following:

- Completed Nomination Form (including the name and signature of the nominee and nominator). Nominations may come from MNLA members or external to MNLA;
- Statement of Qualifications (maximum 2 pages) outlining the nominee’s relevant experience, skills, and knowledge related to the role;
- Résumé or Curriculum Vitae;
- Any supporting documentation the nominee wishes to provide demonstrating their suitability for the position.
