CNC Machine Operator / Machinist Trainee

We’re not looking for a finished machinist. We’re looking for someone with the potential to become an exceptional one.

There are plenty of job postings looking for someone with 10 years of experience.

This isn’t one of them.

We’re looking for someone who is relatively new to machining—or even someone with strong mechanical aptitude who simply hasn’t been given the right opportunity yet.

What matters most to us is how you think, how you learn, and how much pride you take in what you produce.

We want to find someone with the right foundation and teach them machining from the ground up: not simply how to operate a CNC machine, but how to become a highly capable, efficient and productive machinist.

What We’re Trying to Build

Our philosophy is that machining is much more than loading a part, pressing Cycle Start and checking a dimension.

A great machinist understands the entire process.

Why is the tool cutting that way?

Why did the insert fail?

Where is the wasted time in this operation?

How can we make the next part faster without sacrificing quality?

How does the machine sound and feel when everything is right?

What could we change to make 100 parts better than the first 10?

We believe some of these fundamentals are becoming harder to learn in today’s industry. We want to pass that knowledge on.

You’ll be working alongside experienced people who have spent years around machining, tooling and production. If you’re willing to put in the effort, we’ll teach you.

Our goal isn’t to keep you at the level of an operator.

Our goal is to develop you beyond it.

You don’t need to know everything about machining.

You do need to be someone who:

What We’ll Teach You

Depending on where you’re starting, we’ll work toward developing your skills in:

- CNC machine operation
- Proper machine setup
- Precision measurement and inspection
- Reading drawings and understanding tolerances
- Cutting tools and insert selection
- Speeds and feeds
- Tool wear and troubleshooting
- Workholding
- Materials and how they machine differently
- Understanding what the machine is telling you through sound, vibration and tool wear
- Cycle-time reduction
- Process improvement
- Production efficiency
- Problem solving
- CNC programming concepts
- The habits and thought processes that separate an average operator from an excellent machinist

You’ll be expected to learn progressively and take on more responsibility as your abilities grow.

Our Philosophy

Quality matters. Productivity matters too.

Making a perfect part inefficiently isn’t the goal.

Making parts quickly without controlling quality isn’t the goal either.

A great machinist learns how to achieve quality, consistency and productivity at the same time.

That’s the standard we’ll teach toward.





We want people who eventually look at a component they made, hold it in their hands and think:

“I made that—and I know exactly how and why the process works.”

There is something extremely rewarding about taking a piece of raw material and turning it into a precision component. If that idea genuinely interests you, machining can provide a challenging and valuable career for decades.

Experience

Previous machining experience is welcome, but extensive experience is not required.

In fact, we’re particularly interested in applicants who are early in their machining career and hungry to learn.

Machining school, apprenticeship experience, shop experience, mechanical work, automotive experience, fabrication or other hands-on backgrounds are all valuable.

Attitude and aptitude matter more to us than having the perfect résumé.
