Currently, we seek motivated and mechanically inclined individuals for our manufacturing locations.
CNC Set-up Operator, 2053 Shirley Dr, Kitchener, N2B 3X4 - DAY
DAYS – Monday – Thursday 6:30am - 4:30pm
Responsibilities include:
- Operations may include but are not limited to set up production, verification, inspection, and minor program editing.
- Program, set up and operate vertical or horizontal CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes – to facilitate optimum production rates, maintain required tolerances, and maximize tool life - adhering to specifications.
- Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, product drawings, technical requirements and customer specifications.
- Select proper work holding and tools to suit program requirements.
- Establish proper cycle and run times.
- Establish proper tool life on all tools for part run.
- Call up program, fit and assemble fixtures/components and machine parts to strict tolerances.
- Touch off tools, dry run, and run First Off.
- Oversee the machines while they execute the tasks and make the necessary changes to produce improved results.
- Verify accuracy of finished machined parts using precise measuring instruments. (Micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.),
calibrate tools and set tool offsets.
- Analyze deviations from specifications/tolerances and adjust offsets accordingly
- Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Communicate with Tool Crib to ensure tool inventory for jobs.
- Coordinate with Quoting to ensure cycle time is met as per job folder.
- Be mindful of any continuous improvement opportunities at all times
- Report any manufacturing issues to Engineering.
- Assist in troubleshooting any machine or maintenance issues and report to Supervisor.
- Follow quality management system policy and procedures as per ISO 9001:2015.
- Maintain work area clean and organized, and follow health & safety rules.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a CNC Set-up Operator.
- Certification as a Machinist is an asset
- Certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering is an advantage.
- Able to work with little supervision.
- Ability to translate mechanical documents and engineering drawings.
- Able to skillfully use a variety of measuring equipment and gauges
- Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
- Strong comprehension and analytical abilities.
- Valuable computer and mathematical skills.
Physical Demands:
Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, packing, stacking, bending,
climbing / descending / going under or on equipment as well as some physical lifting.
Regularly exposed to noise, temperature change and lubricants and vibration.
Wears all PPE as required.
