Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a collaborative and knowledgeable Coordinator of Early Learning to provide divisional leadership and support for Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten and Program Unit Funding (PUF) programming across the Division.

The early years are an important foundation for children's learning and development. The Coordinator of Early Learning helps ensure young children have access to high-quality, responsive, and developmentally appropriate Pre-K programming that recognizes their individual strengths and needs. Reporting to the Director of Education Services, this role supports the design, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of high-quality Pre-K programming.

Working closely with school administrators, teachers, Education Services staff, families, and community partners, the Coordinator helps ensure programming is responsive to the developmental and learning needs of young children while meeting provincial requirements for PUF-funded programming.

What You'll Be Doing

- Pre-K & PUF Programming
- Provide divisional leadership and expertise for Pre-K and PUF programming.
- Coordinate the design, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of Pre-K programming across the Division.
- Work with school administrators and staff to support high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming and learning environments.
- Support consistent divisional practices while ensuring programming remains responsive to individual children, schools, and communities.
- Remain current with research, emerging practices, and provincial direction related to early childhood education and PUF programming.
- Support the Division in meeting Alberta Education requirements related to PUF eligibility, programming, documentation, and reporting.

Support to Schools & Staff

- Provide ongoing consultation, coaching, and support to administrators, teachers, Educational Assistants, and other staff involved in Pre-K programming
- Develop and facilitate qualified learning related to early childhood development, play-based learning, inclusive practice, assessment, programming, and other identified areas
- Build capacity among Pre-K staff through collaborative planning, professional learning, and sharing of effective practices
- Support schools in responding to the diverse developmental and learning needs of young children
- Collaborate with Education Services staff and specialized service providers to coordinate supports for children receiving PUF

Program Coordination

- Coordinate divisional processes and practices related to Pre-K and PUF programming
- Support screening, assessment, eligibility, placement, and programming processes for children accessing PUF in Pre-K and Kindergarten
- Support effective transitions into Pre-K programming and from Pre-K into Kindergarten




- Work collaboratively with schools to identify emerging programming, staffing, resource, and facility needs
- Support the collection and analysis of program and student data to inform planning and continuous improvement
- Coordinate required documentation and reporting related to PUF programming and funding

Families & Partnerships

- Support strong relationships and communication between Pre-K programs, families, and schools
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, early childhood providers, and other partners supporting young children and families
- Support families in understanding and navigating Pre-K and PUF programming
- Collaborate with provincial and community partners as required to support effective programming and transitions

Divisional Leadership

- Work collaboratively as a member of the Education Services team to support Division priorities and the Education Plan
- Provide advice and recommendations regarding Pre-K and PUF programming, resources, practices, and future program development
- Support divisional planning related to Pre-K enrolment, program locations, staffing, resources, and professional learning
- Assist with provincial reporting, documentation, and funding requirements related to Pre-K, Kindergarten, and PUF
- Participate in divisional committees, working groups, and meetings related to the portfolio
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education Services

- Pre-K programming is high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to the needs of children, schools, and communities.
- Schools and staff feel supported and confident in delivering effective Pre-K and PUF programming.
- Divisional practices related to Pre-K and PUF are coordinated, consistent, and aligned with provincial requirements.
- Children accessing PUF receive appropriate screening, assessment, placement, programming, and support throughout Pre-K and Kindergarten.
- Professional learning and coaching strengthen staff capacity in early childhood development, play-based learning, inclusive practice, assessment, and programming.
- Effective transitions into Pre-K and from Pre-K into Kindergarten are supported in collaboration with schools and families.
- Families have clear information and feel supported in understanding and navigating Pre-K and PUF programming.
- Robust collaborative relationships are maintained with schools, families, specialized service providers, early childhood organizations,



and other community partners.
- Program and student data are used thoughtfully to inform planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
- PUF documentation, reporting, and funding requirements are completed accurately and effectively.
- Emerging programming, staffing, resource, and facility needs are identified and communicated to support divisional planning.
- The Coordinator contributes positively to the Education Services team and supports Division priorities and the Education Plan.
- The Coordinator is recognized as a knowledgeable, collaborative, and responsive resource for Pre-K and PUF programming across Sturgeon Public Schools.

What You Bring

- Alberta Teaching Certification
- A Master's Degree in Education or a related field is preferred
- Five or more years of experience in education, with demonstrated experience in early childhood education
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practice
- Experience with Pre-K and programming for children with diverse learning needs
- Knowledge and experience related to Alberta's PUF requirements and programming
- Experience providing leadership, coaching, or professional learning to educators
- Strong understanding of inclusive programming and supports for young children with diverse learning needs
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and professional learning skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and program coordination skills
- Ability to use research, evidence, and data to inform programming and decision-making
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators, teachers, support staff, families, service providers, and community partners
- A solution-focused, collaborative approach to challenges
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to emerging needs
- A high degree of professionalism, empathy, judgment, and creative problem-solving
