About the Role

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Arts at Mount Royal University, invites applications for a part-time sessional appointment for the Fall semester (September 3, 2026 to December 22, 2026). We are seeking instructors with the ability to teach the following course:

Sociology 4435 Feminist Theory

- Wednesdays 1:00 pm - 3:50 pm In person

This advanced theory course examines a range of feminist theories. The contents of this course will speak back to and disrupt the sociological canons. Students of this course will engage with theoretical works traditionally excluded from the realm of sociological theory. Responsibilities

- Instruction: course delivery including preparation of course outline, course activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and course Blackboard site; and
- Administration:



submit course attendance sheets, course outline signature forms, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in scheduled program meetings.

Qualifications

- Master's degree in Sociology, with preference for applicants who are either pursuing a Ph.D or those who have completed their Ph.D in Sociology.
- Demonstrated record of research or teaching experience and scholarly expertise on intersectional feminist theories, Black Feminist Theories, Critical Race theory, Feminist works from the Global South, and/or Indigenous feminist theory.
- A preference for candidates who incorporate critical sociology, Indigenous ways of knowing, and/or decolonization into their core course content
- The successful candidate will be required to provide the University with academic transcripts from their degree-granting institutions. Employment contracts will be rescinded if the requirements are not met.

Due to the short turnaround, a course outline specifically for the courses you are requesting is not required.
