Department: The West of Scotland Regional Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery Technical Service, OMFS Laboratory The West of Scotland Regional Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery Technical Service is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Deputy of Service. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work within a energetic team, contributing to cutting-edge treatments and the delivery of exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head of Service, managing daily operations, and ensuring the highest standards of technical service delivery.
The post requires an individual who is highly skilled and experienced in all aspects of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, Reconstructive Science and specialist custom medical device manufacture. This will include subspecialties of facial prosthetics, 3D printing, craniofacial and oncology reconstruction planning, deep buried implants, trauma and cleft lip and palate. Orthognathic (corrective jaw surgery to improve function, mastication and aesthetics) surgery planning and diagnostic treatment planning, including innovative developmental work and design.
Excellent staff and patient management skills are required to manage the service workload. Quality management, teaching, and training (internal/external) are essential parts of the post.
Essential
Knowledge, training and experience:
- MSc Reconstructive Science or Maxillofacial Rehabilitation (KCL) or STP/Historical Equivalent
- Statutory registration (GDC and/or HCPC).
- Voluntary registration with Professional Body IMPT (Member) at the qualified/appropriate level.
- Up to date CPD portfolio/reflective log.
- If historical qualification; completion of STP Equivalence with the Academy of Healthcare Science.
- Significant experience of practise with regional maxillofacial prosthetics clinics and laboratory services.
- Broad experience across whole discipline.
- Craniofacial implant program.
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis (CT), 3D design, planning and additive manufacture.
- In depth knowledge of Quality management systems and implementation for compliance with legislation for the construction of custom made patient specific medical devices.
- Experienced trainer.
- Research activity/innovation
