Job Title: Digital Architect

Location: Remote Edmonton, AB (Remote)

Employment Type: Contract | Initial 3 Months, Potential Extension up to 24 Months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Digital Architect to support a public-sector client's digital transformation, service innovation, and modernization initiatives. The successful candidate will provide solution architecture leadership within cross-functional Agile teams, helping deliver user-centric digital services while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, technical standards, and modern delivery practices.

This is a hands-on architecture role requiring strong technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to work closely with product owners, developers, UX/service designers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead solution architecture for digital services, including architectural planning, technical discovery, feasibility assessment, and solution design.
- Analyze existing systems, integrations, dependencies, risks, and impacts to develop practical modernization strategies.
- Guide Agile product teams in delivering solutions iteratively while maintaining alignment with the target architecture.
- Define integration approaches, system boundaries, interfaces, and opportunities to reuse common components and capabilities.
- Provide detailed technical guidance to development teams and review code changes where required.
- Contribute hands-on development support for user stories and technical initiatives when needed.
- Coach and mentor product team members on architecture, technical design, and development practices.
- Support the development of architecture principles, standards, metrics, and quality practices.
- Prepare architecture documentation, diagrams, presentations,



and other materials for both technical and business audiences.
- Collaborate with product owners and teams to balance feature delivery with technical priorities and architectural needs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, demos, and retrospectives.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience as a Software/Digital Architect leading solution design and delivery.
- 15+ years of experience leading or working with cross-functional Agile product teams.
- 14+ years of experience defining and communicating solution architecture to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 12+ years of experience working with UX, service design, or design teams within cross-functional product environments.
- 15+ years of robust communication and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, technical standards, and Agile delivery.
- Ability to work across business and technical teams and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Comfortable reviewing code and contributing to development activities when required.

Preferred Skills

- 14+ years of experience designing and managing APIs, including RESTful services.
- 14+ years of experience applying secure development practices and managing security considerations.




- 12+ years of experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated testing.
- 15+ years of experience modernizing or incrementally transforming legacy systems.
- 12+ years of experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience working within public-sector digital service or government technology environments.
