Early Childhood Educator (Level 1, 2, or 3)

Job Type: Casual / Float / Full time (flexible scheduling available depending on program needs)

Pay: $19.64–$27.62 per hour

Schedule: Flexible – shifts may range from 4 to 40 hours per week

About Kids’ Time Out

Kids’ Time Out Play Program is a non-profit child care program that has been serving families in the Cold Lake community since 1982. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and welcoming environment where children are supported, valued, and encouraged to grow through play.

We believe in building strong, responsive relationships with children and families, and in creating learning environments that reflect diversity, belonging, and respect for each child’s unique identity and background.

We are currently seeking Early Childhood Educators (casual, float, and full-time positions available) to join our team. These roles offer flexibility and variety, supporting our program through daily staffing needs, planned absences, and ongoing program growth.

Responsibilities

- Support and engage children in play-based, child-led learning experiences.
- Provide open-ended materials and meaningful routines that reflect children’s interests, identities, and family cultures.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children feel a strong sense of belonging.
- Encourage children’s development through responsive interactions and intentional programming.
- Document children’s learning through observations, stories, and reflections that highlight growth, dispositions, and cultural identity.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.
- Collaborate with the team to maintain a connected, supportive learning community.
- Follow all licensing requirements, centre policies,



and health and safety procedures.
- Step into ratio and support daily program operations as required.
- Provide coverage across different rooms or age groups as a float or relief educator, as needed.

Qualifications

- Valid Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3).
- Experience working with young children in a child care and/or preschool setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and play-based learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, dated no earlier than one week prior to start date.
- A collaborative, flexible, and positive approach to working in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and support varying program needs (for float and casual roles).
