Curious Pandas Supportive Learning Inc. is a licensed infant and toddler childcare centre in Nanaimo, caring for children from 1 to 3 years of age. As a small, close-knit team, we value collaboration, kindness, and supporting one another each day.

Our program emphasizes child-led exploration, meaningful relationships, nature, and thoughtfully prepared environments that foster independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. We are currently seeking one Substitute Educator (ECEA, ECE, or ECE-IT) to join our team.

Position

This is an on-call substitute position with flexible scheduling, providing coverage for staff sick days, vacation time, and other unexpected absences.

Now through February 2027:

Flexible, on-call hours as needed for substitute coverage, with full time coverage required Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. from December 1–18, 2026, while a team member is away on vacation leave.

Beginning February 2027:

The position will transition into a one-year,



part-time contract position of 15 hours per week, Monday–Friday, from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Additional hours may be available on an on-call basis to provide substitute coverage for staff absences, vacation time, and other unexpected needs.

We welcome applicants with varying availability. As this position includes substitute coverage, preference will be given to candidates who are able to offer greater availability and flexibility.

Qualifications

- Valid British Columbia ECEA, ECE, or ECE-IT certification
- Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check through the BC Criminal Records Review Program
- A genuine passion for working with infants and toddlers in a respectful, relationship-based environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude
