Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate full-time Elementary Teacher to join our growing Grade 1 team. We are looking for an outstanding and dedicated educator who is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and can design flexible, student-centered programs that support academic success and personal growth. This role requires an individual who can motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a strong educational foundation, while building meaningful relationships with parents, staff, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes
- Implement a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning
- Support diverse learners using differentiated teaching methods
- Integrate technology (e.g., SMART Boards, iPads, STEAM resources) into daily instruction
- Assess and evaluate student progress; maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents
- Develop course outlines and learning objectives in alignment with curriculum guidelines
- Maintain strong classroom management and a calm, professional approach in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate with colleagues, participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community




- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and contribute positively to a faith-based school environment

Qualifications & Requirements

- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certificate
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven classroom management skills
- Understanding of current, research-based instructional practices
- Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning
- Commitment to inclusive education and student success
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a energetic school environment
- Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse school setting is considered an asset
