Equipment Restoration Technician

Solid Equipment Solutions Ltd. Camrose County, Alberta

$22–$40 per hour, depending on experience and skill level

Solid Equipment Solutions Ltd. is a growing industrial equipment restoration, repair, and refinishing company serving Central Alberta and beyond. We work on a wide variety of equipment, including grain and Super B trailers, commercial trucks and trailers, heavy equipment, industrial and oilfield equipment, shipping containers, and other specialty equipment.

We're looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined person to join our shop team as an Equipment Restoration Technician.

This is a varied position for someone who enjoys working with their hands and wants to develop real, practical skills. The right person could come into the role with little industry experience and learn on the job, or bring existing experience in mechanical work, welding, painting, sandblasting, or equipment repair and take on more advanced responsibilities.

What You'll Do

Your work will vary depending on the projects in the shop and your experience level. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in the complete restoration process, from taking equipment apart to putting it back together.

Typical duties may include

- Disassembling equipment and components for repair, preparation, and refinishing
- Reassembling equipment and components after repairs and refinishing are complete
- Sandblasting and abrasive surface preparation
- Grinding, sanding, pressure washing, and other surface preparation
- Preparing equipment for industrial painting and protective coatings
- Learning and developing industrial spray-painting skills
- Assisting or performing structural repairs, fabrication, and welding
- Performing basic mechanical repairs and component replacement

- Inspecting equipment and identifying damaged, worn, or defective components
- Precision laser cleaning and surface preparation using our portable laser cleaning equipment
- Masking, taping, and preparing surfaces for coatings
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and a clean and organized work area
- Following project-specific instructions and quality standards
- Working safely and using appropriate PPE and safety procedures
- Taking on increasingly complex work as your skills and experience develop

Your role can be as mechanical as your ability and aptitude. Someone who is comfortable with basic assembly and disassembly may start there, while someone with stronger mechanical, fabrication, or repair skills will have the opportunity to take on more advanced work.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is reliable, mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, and wants to learn.

Experience in any of the following is an asset:

- Heavy equipment or automotive mechanical work
- Autobody
- Truck and trailer repair
- Welding and fabrication
- Sandblasting
- Industrial painting or automotive refinishing
- Surface preparation and coatings
- General shop work

Trade qualifications or apprenticeship experience are an asset, including Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, Autobody, Truck and Transport, or related trades.

However, formal trade experience is not required for the right person.

If you're mechanically inclined, comfortable using tools, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things properly, we'd like to hear from you.

The Person We're Looking For

- Reliable and dependable
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools
- Willing to learn current skills and take direction
- Able to work independently once trained
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Pays attention to detail
- Able to work both indoors and outdoors
- Comfortable performing physically demanding work, including standing, bending, climbing, lifting, grinding, sanding, and working in awkward positions
- Safety-conscious and willing to use required PPE
- Able to work effectively as part of a small team
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on different types of work

What We Offer

At Solid Equipment Solutions, no two projects are exactly the same. You'll work on a wide range of equipment and have the opportunity to develop skills across mechanical repair, welding, fabrication, sandblasting, surface preparation, industrial painting, coatings, and equipment restoration.

We are a growing company, and we want our employees to grow with us. Your responsibilities and earning potential can increase as your skills, experience, and ability to work independently increase.

Compensation: $22–$40/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skill.

If you're looking for a job where you can spend your day working with your hands, learning valuable skills, and seeing the finished result of your work, we'd like to hear from you.
