Working as part of an established legal team, you will provide legal and administrative support on regulatory enforcement matters. Your responsibilities will span the full lifecycle of files, from intake and case management through hearings, appeals, and prosecutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Administering Administrative Penalty Order (APO) files, including intake, issuance, service, tracking, and correspondence.

- Supporting prosecution files by maintaining court records, monitoring court schedules, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
- Preparing and formatting Provincial Offences Act charges, pleadings, affidavits, notices, and legal correspondence.
- Conducting legal research and assisting lawyers with case preparation and evidence review.
- Organizing documentary evidence, disclosure materials, and witness information for hearings and trials.

- Assisting with administrative tribunal proceedings and Ontario Court of Justice matters.
- Tracking file progress, maintaining litigation databases, and preparing status reports.
- Coordinating with internal enforcement teams, legal counsel, witnesses, and other stakeholders.
- Providing general litigation and administrative support to lawyers and the broader legal team.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess:

- 2–5 years of law clerk experience, preferably within litigation, regulatory, administrative, or enforcement law.
- Strong experience with litigation file management and legal documentation.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Civil litigation
- Regulatory or administrative law
- Tribunal proceedings
- Provincial Offences Court
- Prosecutions or enforcement matters
- Strong legal drafting, proofreading, and document preparation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple files and competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers and other members of a legal team.
- Strong proficiency with legal technology, electronic document management systems, and Microsoft Office.

A Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education is preferred. Experience supporting regulatory, prosecution, or government-related litigation matters will be considered a strong asset.

What You'll Receive

- $45/hour
- Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in the Mississauga office and 2 days remotely
- Exposure to complex regulatory litigation, enforcement, and prosecution matters.
- Opportunity to work closely with experienced lawyers and legal professionals.
- Experience supporting administrative tribunal and Ontario Court of Justice proceedings.
- Collaborative and supportive legal team.
- Annual legal conference attendance supporting professional development.
- Potential reimbursement of applicable professional licensing or educational fees, subject to eligibility and contract timing.

Please note that this is a contract position lasting an undetermined length of time. The successful candidate will be employed by Cartel Inc., with vacation pay and sick leave administered in accordance with Cartel's employment policies. As a temporary assignment, benefits and bonus programs are not included.
