Fleet Shop Manager

Canada Cartage is looking for an experienced Fleet Shop Manager to lead our shop operations and maintenance team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and keeping a busy fleet operating safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop while leading and developing a team of Technicians and a Shop Service Writer.

Your responsibilities will include

- Lead, coach, and develop Technicians and the Shop Service Writer through scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Oversee daily shop operations to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Plan and prioritize repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
- Manage work orders, maintenance records, and repair history using fleet maintenance software.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Manage relationships with parts suppliers, vendors, and warranty providers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet uptime and reduce breakdowns.
- Monitor maintenance costs and performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Manage the shop budget and implement cost-control measures.

What You’ll Bring

- Experience as a Shop Supervisor, Shop Foreman, Fleet Maintenance Lead, or similar leadership role.
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing a team in a rapid-paced maintenance environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Experience with fleet or vehicle maintenance operations.




- Mechanic/technician experience is an asset.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- College diploma or equivalent education and experience.
