Montreal
Academix is a small, Montreal-based tutoring company looking for passionate and reliable French, Math and Science tutors to join our team for the upcoming school year.
We are hiring tutors with expertise in one or more of these subject areas. Tutoring takes place in person in students' homes, primarily in Westmount, NDG, Hampstead, Côte Saint-Luc and Montreal West.
About Academix
Academix was founded by a former teacher who began working in tutoring and educational support eight years ago after seeing gaps in the traditional education system—particularly for students who learn differently.
We work primarily with elementary and high-school students and have a particular focus on supporting students with learning disabilities and diverse learning needs.
As a small, local company, we take the time to get to know our tutors and families. Students are thoughtfully matched with tutors based on subject expertise, personality, teaching style and individual learning needs.
The Role
Depending on your area of expertise, you may work with students requiring support in:
- French – elementary and/or high school
- Mathematics – elementary and/or high school
- Science – high school, including general science, biology, chemistry and physics
Tutoring may include:
- Providing individualized, one-on-one instruction based on each student's needs and learning style
- Helping students strengthen foundational skills and address gaps in their learning
- Supporting homework, assignments and test/exam preparation
- Explaining challenging concepts in a clear, patient and approachable way
- Adapting teaching strategies for students who learn differently
- Building students' confidence and helping them become more independent learners
- Communicating with Academix regarding student progress or concerns

- Certified or retired teachers
- Education students
- University students or graduates with strong subject-matter expertise
- Experienced tutors
Ideal candidates are:
- Warm, patient and able to connect well with children and teenagers
- Reliable, professional and committed to their students
- Strong communicators
- Comfortable adapting their teaching to different learning styles
- Available for consistent weekly tutoring throughout the school year
- Able to travel to students' homes in the Montreal area
Experience working with students with learning disabilities, ADHD or other diverse learning needs is a solid asset.
Familiarity with the Quebec elementary and/or secondary curriculum is also an asset.
Why Work With Academix?
We take care of finding students, communicating with families and managing the administrative side of tutoring so our tutors can focus on what they do best: teaching.
We believe strongly in making thoughtful matches. We consider each student's academic needs, personality and learning style, as well as the tutor's strengths and preferences.
Our goal is to develop long-term relationships with great educators and create tutoring partnerships that work well for the student, family and tutor.
