Job Type: Full time Medical Receptionist (2 openings)
Location: Various - North York/Toronto Area
Compensation: $44,540 annually
Benefits: Comprehensive health & dental benefits package and HOOPP pension plan
Schedule: 5 days a week, including 1 evening per week and 1 Saturday per month

About the Organization The Humber River Family Health Team (HRFHT) is a non-profit organization providing interdisciplinary, patient-centred primary care to optimize individual and family health within the community.
We provide comprehensive primary health care, including chronic disease management, health promotion, and disease prevention, to a rostered population of patients in the northwest sub-region of the Greater Toronto Area. Our interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals works collaboratively to deliver high-quality, patient-centred, respectful, and inclusive care.
Join our growing team! We are hiring 2 Full-Time Medical Receptionists.
About the Position The Medical Receptionist plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the Humber River Family Health Team and ensuring patients receive timely, professional, and compassionate care. This position provides administrative and clerical support to the interdisciplinary care team and contributes to the overall patient experience.
Accountability The position reports directly to the Office Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and register patients and community members in a professional and friendly manner.
- Respond to and triage calls on a multi-line telephone system, transferring calls as appropriate.
- Manage booking and referral processes using OSCAR Pro EMR and/or OCEAN booking platform.
- Coordinate referrals to other health care providers and follow up for missing information as needed.
- Perform filing, faxing, photocopying,
and email correspondence as required.
- Maintain inventory control of medical and office supplies and initiate purchase requests when required.
- Notify patients of appointment details (date, time, location, and contact information) promptly.
- Document the status and progress of communications and patient interactions in the EMR system.
- Promote participation in HRFHT health promotion and wellness programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operations of the HRFHT.
- Ability to work at multiple clinic locations, as requested.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Completion of a Medical Secretary Course (medical terminology) is required.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
- Experience using OSCAR or similar EMR systems is an asset
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt in a busy clinical environment
