The young women in our community are not just participants, they are increasingly shaping the programs, events, and spaces they belong to.Our Saskatoon hub is one of our most vibrant, hosting leadership programming, community events, cultural gatherings, youth-led initiatives, and events designed to foster belonging and connection.About the RoleThe Community & Events Manager is a relationship-centred role supporting community-led programming within 30 Birds' Saskatoon hub.Rather than directing events from the top down, this role works alongside a Community Events Committee made up of WINGSPAN members (Afghan youth leaders). You'll provide structure, coordination, and mentorship so participants can design and lead events that reflect their real needs, interests, and aspirations.You'll collaborate closely with the Canada Country Director to support shared leadership while maintaining clear timelines, budgets, and operational boundaries.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity-Led Events & ProgrammingSupport and facilitate a Community Events Committee that leads event design and decision-makingTranslate committee ideas into welcoming, well-organized, and feasible eventsEnsure programming is culturally sensitive, accessible, and inclusiveManage event logistics (venues, transportation, catering, schedules,



budgets)Supervise and delegate tasks to the Community & Events AssistantSupport Afghan youth in developing leadership and event-planning skillsVolunteer & Event SupportBuild and manage an event-focused volunteer systemRecruit, onboard, and coordinate volunteers for in-person eventsPrioritize peer-aged volunteers to strengthen belonging and connectionMaintain clear communication before and after eventsLead an annual Volunteer Appreciation Gathering in SaskatoonSignature & Major EventsSupport committee leadership of Saskatoon's annual Secret 3KLead planning and logistics in collaboration with local partnersSupport major events as needed, including a potential Saskatoon Gala (Fall 2026) and the National WINGSPAN Summit & Gala (Toronto, 2027)Administration & CoordinationManage event budgets responsibly and transparentlyTrack attendance, feedback, and outcomesOversee event supplies, assets, and inventoryCoordinate vendors, reimbursements, and routine operationsProvide concise monthly updates to the Canada Country DirectorWho You AreYou're someone who:Believes in shared leadership and community-driven programmingIs organized, reliable, and calm under pressureEnjoys bringing ideas to life through logistics and collaborationWorks across cultures with humility, care, and curiosityBalances warmth and relationship-building with explicit boundaries and follow-throughThrives in a small, mission-driven nonprofit environmentHow to ApplyTo apply, please send your Resume and Cover Letter to: with the subject line COMMUNITY AND EVENTS MANAGER.Selected candidates will be contacted for next steps.30 Birds Foundation is an equal opportunity employer.
