Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist you will be part of the Geology Department. You will be responsible for taking representative samples on RC drill rigs or blast hole rigs, completing the associated paperwork, preparing sample shipments for the lab and delineating ore blocks and ore spotting in the pit. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
- Lay out planned drill holes and survey completed drill hole collars with the GPS;
- Complete Reverse Circulation drill hole (“RC”) and Blast Hole sampling as required;
- Ensure QA/QC samples (duplicates,
standards & blanks) are included with the daily sample shipment;
- Complete Sample Shipment Forms;
- Accountable for correctly completing shift summary paperwork for the crew;
- Enter appropriate Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling data into the master collar file and acQuire database;
- Communicate issues with RC drill holes, blast hole sampling, ore markups, or drone survey to the Mine Geologist or designate;
- Ensure that all personnel at the RC rig comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties consistent with the above as may be required from time-to-time;
- Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture.
What You Need To Succeed
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with ability to lift 50lbs or more;
- Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods of time;
- Possess a valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License;
- Experience working in an open pit operation is considered an asset;
- Willingness to learn and demonstrate potential to develop;
- Good verbal and listening skills;
- Motivated, reliable, and enjoy working as part of a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee.
Agnico
Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
