Grade 11 English TeacherJob Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grade 11 English Teacher to support and inspire secondary school students in developing strong reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons that strengthen students' abilities in literary analysis, essay writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and effective communication.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about English language and literature and can explain writing concepts clearly while helping students become more confident and independent learners. Duties

- Design and deliver engaging English lessons appropriate for Grade 11 students
- Teach and reinforce essay writing, paragraph development, thesis statements, organization, and supporting evidence
- Guide students in reading comprehension, literary analysis, and interpretation of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and other texts
- Help students develop stronger vocabulary, grammar, and written communication skills
- Provide constructive feedback on essays, assignments, and other written work
- Assess student progress through writing assignments, reading activities, discussions, and other assessments




- Provide individualized support and tutoring to students who need additional help with reading or writing
- Encourage students to think critically, express their ideas clearly, and support their interpretations with textual evidence
- Create a positive and supportive learning workplace that encourages participation and confidence
- Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning levels and student needs
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and academic progress

Experience
- Prior experience teaching Grade 11 English or secondary school English is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of English literature, reading comprehension, and academic writing
- Demonstrated ability to teach essay writing and literary analysis effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience providing detailed and constructive feedback on student writing
- Ability to explain grammar, vocabulary, and writing concepts clearly and effectively
- Experience tutoring or mentoring secondary school students is an asset
- Familiarity with the BC secondary school English curriculum is highly preferred
- Ability to support students with different academic levels and learning needs
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms and educational technology is an asset

Pay: $35.00-$60.00 per hour
