Turn Powerful Stories into Possibility

Do you love turning meaningful work into words that move people? Are you equal parts thoughtful writer, relationship-builder, detail wrangler, and impact translator? Power To Be is looking for a Grants Officer to help fuel programs that create access to nature for youth, families, and adults living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers.

At Power To Be, we believe everyone belongs in nature. Through inclusive, nature-based programs, we support people to explore their limitless abilities, build connection, and experience the outdoors in ways that are safe, welcoming, and full of possibility. As our Grants Officer, you’ll play a key role in making that work possible by connecting funders to the stories, outcomes, and community impact behind our mission.

About the Role

This is a role for someone who can see the big picture and the tiny details. You’ll help coordinate Power To Be’s grants program from start to finish: researching new opportunities, preparing compelling proposals, gathering the right documents, tracking deadlines, coordinating reports, and stewarding relationships with foundation, corporate, and public sector partners.

You’ll work closely with the Fundraising team, spend time learning from staff and programs, and translate what you see into clear, grounded, funder-aligned writing. Some days you’ll be deep in a grant application or budget narrative; other days you’ll be connecting with colleagues, reviewing program outcomes, supporting stewardship materials, or helping shape thoughtful grant strategies.

This role is about more than writing applications. It’s about helping people understand why this work matters, what is possible when barriers are removed, and how their support can create real and lasting impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Coordinate the full grant cycle, including prospect research, applications, reporting, and stewardship.
- Write clear, compelling, and funder-aligned proposals, reports, letters, and updates.
- Translate program goals, participant experiences, outcomes, and organizational impact into authentic stories.
- Compile application materials, including budgets, budget justifications, staff allocations, and required forms.
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with funders, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
- Support donor stewardship processes and help keep funders connected to the impact of their support.
- Collaborate with Finance, Programs,

and Fundraising colleagues to develop accurate and thoughtful submissions.
- Keep grant timelines, deadlines, activities, and information organized and moving forward.
- Support CRM data integrity, fundraising procedures, and fiscally responsible practices.
- Manage and support the Grant Assistant, providing day-to-day guidance, coordination, and oversight as needed.
- Engage in Power To Be programs at least once per quarter so your writing stays connected to the work on the ground.

Who You Are

You are a strong writer who knows how to bring clarity, care, and purpose to your work. You can take complex information and shape it into something meaningful, accurate, and persuasive. You are organized, curious, and steady under deadlines, with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces without losing sight of the bigger mission.

You enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively, but you’re also comfortable taking initiative and moving work forward independently. You bring sound judgment, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality. You understand that good fundraising is rooted in trust, authenticity, and stewardship.

You may have a background in fundraising, grant writing, communications, technical writing, non-profit work, or another related field. What matters most is that you can write well, think strategically, stay organized, and connect deeply with work that creates access, belonging, and possibility.

What You Bring

- Three to five years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, communications, technical writing, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the grant cycle, including research, proposal development, reporting, and stewardship.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to adapt writing for different funders and audiences.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with budgets, budget narratives, and supporting financial information.
- Comfort using Microsoft 365, databases, CRM systems, or other digital tools.
- Ability to build respectful,

values-aligned relationships with funders, colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Curiosity, good judgment, attention to detail, and care in how you approach both people and process.
- Comfort using AI tools to support research, drafting, editing, and efficiency while applying strong human judgment, accuracy, confidentiality, and care.

Working Conditions

This is primarily an office-based role, with most work completed through writing, research, meetings, and collaboration. From time to time, the Grants Officer may join or support Power To Be programs in the field, which may include working outdoors in varied weather conditions and occasional evening, weekend, or overnight hours.

In alignment with our mission, we value an active lifestyle and an understanding of the connection between nature and wellbeing. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable legislation.
