Job Summary To be responsible for key areas of the gardens and grounds either around the hotel or holiday park, to ensure high standards are met at all times by themselves and team members and to provide a safe working environment for other team members, guests and the general public.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and oversee work done by self and team members around the Hotel and Holiday Park.
- Ensure a protected working environment for team members, guests and the general public.
- Maintenance and care of hand tools.
- Maintenance and care of machinery used by the gardens team.
- Notifying the head gardener or senior gardener immediately on any maintenance issues.
- Liaising with the Head Gardener and Senior Grounds Person on work plans and future work requirements.
- Ensuring irrigation is working as required.
- Ensuring areas around the holiday park, hotel and wider estate are mown and strimmed in a timely manner.
- Pruning plants at the correct time of year.
- Weeding and tidying beds and borders to a high standard.
- Ensuring a high level of customer service for guests by self and team members.
- Assisting with induction of new team members as required.
- To promote self-development horticulturally to ensure a high quality of work in the gardens and holiday park.
- Assisting with replenishing logs for the hotel when required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be required by the Head Gardener and Directors
About You
- Experience using machinery including RTV's, tractors, ride-on mowers, lawn mowers, brush cutters, strimmers, chainsaws. Relevant qualifications are desirable
- Experience maintaining machines
- Experience of turf area care (seeding, turfing, mowing, scarifying etc)
- Hedge cutting experience
- PA1 and PA6 desirable
- Possess a full, clean driving license
- Ability to work on own initiative
- High standards of work
- Happy working outdoors and in all weathers!
General
- Be responsible for Health and Safety as an individual and also to work colleagues, customers and the business, reporting concerns through the Health and Safety processes and procedures.
- Ensure continuous professional development of self, including attending required training courses and seeking means of developing within the business
- Promote continuous improvement in the level of quality and customer care provided by the business and make proposals/suggestions where applicable
- Respect colleagues and the working environment at all times.
- Ensure high standard of dress and self-presentation within the working environment
- Undertake any other duties commensurate within the position for which you are qualified.
In return for your hard work and commitment we offer:
- Enhanced pay - 50p per hour for evening work after 7pm (Sunday - Thursday), £1 per hour for weekend day work until 7pm (Saturdays and Sundays), £1.50 per hour for evenings from 7pm (Friday and Saturdays)
