Role Description The Hand Welder role at FMP Group LP is a full-time, on-site position located in Redwater, AB. In this role, the Hand Welder will perform welding tasks on a variety of materials and components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Daily responsibilities include preparing and setting up welding equipment, interpreting weld symbols, performing quality welds, and working closely with supervisors and other trades to meet project requirements and timelines.

Welder will participate in maintenance, shutdowns, and construction activities, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently. The role also involves inspecting completed welds, assisting in basic fabrication tasks,



and maintaining a clean and organized work area in compliance with FMP Group LP’s safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess core welding skills, including SMAW and GTAW proficiency, ability to read and interpret welding drawings and symbols, and experience welding carbon steel and alloy materials.
- Candidates should possess fabrication and mechanical skills, such as cutting, fitting, basic rigging, and working with piping and structural components in industrial environments.
- Candidates should possess safety and compliance skills, including adherence to site safety procedures, use of PPE, understanding of hot work permits, and familiarity with relevant welding codes and standards.
- Candidates should possess quality and inspection skills, such as visual weld inspection, attention to detail, and ability to meet specified tolerances and project quality requirements.
- Candidates should possess strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to follow instructions, coordinate with supervisors and other trades, and contribute to a respectful, collaborative work setting.
- Red Seal Journeyperson Welder or equivalent trade certification is preferred; apprenticeship-level welders with industrial experience may also be considered.
- Previous experience in industrial construction, maintenance, shutdowns, or turnaround projects is an asset, especially in oil and gas or heavy industrial settings.
- Ability to work on-site in Redwater, AB, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working in varying weather and plant
