Page One Publishing is looking for a collaborative storyteller to drive editorial content about homes, design and décor at Spruce magazine. The ideal candidate will be as knowledgeable about global design trends as they are about the design-build community on Vancouver Island, and eager to work with Victoria’s premium magazine group.

Based in Victoria, B.C., and published four times a year, Spruce is Vancouver Island’s leading homes and design magazine. It offers informative and engaging coverage of the people, products and trends in the design-build community, and helpful information for homeowners looking to buy, renovate or simply enjoy their homes. As the Homes Editor, you will play a prominent role on the Page One editorial team.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Generating, writing, researching and editing stories;
- Working closely and collaboratively with the editor-in-chief and rest of the Page One team;
- Staying up to date on the people, stories and trends in the local design-build community;
- Building relationships with builders and designers;




- Tracking and maintaining a database of new homes and related projects;
- Assisting with online content as needed;
- Attending and representing Spruce magazine at local events.

Requirements:

- Minimum three years’ experience in magazine publishing or other related media;
- Post-secondary education in journalism or a related field;
- Experience editing and writing home and design content;
- Experience with Google Docs and similar technology;
- Public-speaking skills are an asset.
- In addition, the ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, professional and able to work to a deadline, and will reside on Southern Vancouver Island.
