Location
This is an in-person, mobile tutoring position serving students in Midtown and North Toronto.
Our principal service areas are:
Midtown Toronto
- Yonge–Eglinton and Davisville: M4S
- Rosedale and Moore Park: M4W
North Toronto
- Lawrence Park and Bedford Park: M4N and M5N
- Forest Hill: M5P
North York
- York Mills and St. Andrew-Windfields: M2P
- Willowdale: M2N and M2R
- Banbury–Don Mills: M3B
Sessions take place in students’ homes, local libraries or other mutually agreed public study spaces.
Applicants are not required to cover every neighbourhood. Please indicate the neighbourhoods and postal areas to which you can reliably travel.
About Hack Your Course
Hack Your Course is a specialized IB and AP tutoring company serving students across North America. We pair students with knowledgeable tutors who also serve as academic mentors, providing subject expertise, encouragement and consistent support throughout the school year.
We are seeking professional educators and exceptional IB graduates to provide one-on-one, in-person tutoring in IB Mathematics, Sciences and English.
Academic-Year Commitment
This position begins in September 2026.
Please apply only if you are prepared to tutor consistently until the end of June 2027. A full academic-year commitment is required to provide students with stability and continuity.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $50–$60 CAD per tutoring hour.
The starting rate within this range is determined by qualifications, IB subject expertise, teaching experience and tutoring experience.
Rate reviews consider completed teaching hours, performance and continued commitment to Hack Your Course. The posted compensation range is firm.
Required Qualifications
Direct familiarity and experience with the IB curriculum are mandatory. Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualification pathways:
IB-trained teachers
- Recognized IB training or certification
- Direct IB classroom teaching experience
Ontario-certified teachers
- A valid Ontario teaching certificate or Ontario College of Teachers membership
- Substantial direct experience with the IB curriculum as an IB teacher, tutor or former IB student
Exceptional IB Diploma graduates
- A completed university degree
- A high cumulative IB Diploma score
- Extensive and demonstrable tutoring or teaching experience
Applications that do not meet at least one of these qualification pathways will not be considered.
Subject Requirements
Applicants must be qualified to tutor at least one of the following subjects:
- IB Biology HL
- IB Chemistry HL
- IB Physics HL
- IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL
- IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation HL
- IB English A: Language and Literature SL or HL
- IB English A: Literature SL or HL
Applicants are not expected to teach every listed subject.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel reliably to students for in-person sessions
- Robust communication, organization and time-management skills
- Commitment to mentoring students throughout the academic year
- Ability to explain difficult concepts clearly and patiently
- Professional and dependable communication with students, families and the Hack Your Course team
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver exceptional one-on-one, in-person IB lessons
- Travel to students’ homes, libraries or other agreed tutoring locations
- Design and adapt lesson plans and practice materials to meet each student’s needs
- Prepare students for IB examinations using exam-style questions and effective test-taking strategies
- Support IB English students with literary analysis, close reading, structured writing, oral assessments and examination preparation
- Guide students through Internal Assessments and Extended Essays while following IB academic-integrity requirements
- Mentor students in study skills, organization and time management
- Monitor student performance and communicate progress to families and the Hack Your Course team
- Complete accurate session reports through our online portal on time
