Contract Instructor – Advanced Web Programming
ILAC International College is seeking an experienced web development professional to teach our Advanced Web Programming course. We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about modern web technologies and enjoys helping students build full-stack web applications using today's leading development frameworks and tools.
This course builds on students' foundational web programming knowledge and focuses on the development of enterprise-level web applications. Students learn to develop contemporary front-end applications using Vue.js, build server-side applications with Node.js and Express, integrate relational databases, and create secure, API-driven web applications through extensive hands-on projects.
Position Details
- Course: Advanced Web Programming
- Schedule: Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Location: Toronto Campus
- Employment Type: Contract
- Compensation: $45.00 per hour
What You’ll Teach
This project-based course prepares students to design, develop, and deploy modern full-stack web applications. Through a combination of lectures, coding labs, and a capstone project, students strengthen their front-end and back-end development skills while gaining practical experience with client-server architecture, RESTful APIs, authentication, and database integration.
Key Topics The successful instructor will teach topics including:
- Advanced HTML, CSS, and JavaScript concepts
- Modern front-end development and Single Page Applications (SPA)
- Vue.js fundamentals, components, directives, and routing
- Client-server architecture and REST APIs
- Node.js and Express.js development
- Asynchronous programming, callbacks, and promises
- CRUD application development
- Authentication and authorization
- MySQL database integration using Sequelize
- Web application security and data persistence
- Full-stack application development using Vue.js, Node.js, and MySQL
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate hands-on coding labs.
- Guide students through the development of real-world full-stack web applications.
- Mentor students throughout a multi-week capstone project from planning through final presentation.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports student success.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and course records.
- Collaborate with the Academic Department to ensure high-quality program delivery.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in full-stack web development or software engineering.
- Strong experience with:
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- HTML5 and CSS3
- Vue.js
- Node.js and Express.js
- RESTful APIs
- MySQL or other relational databases
- Git and modern development workflows
- Experience with authentication, authorization, and secure web application development.
- Previous teaching, mentoring, corporate training, or technical coaching experience is considered an asset.
- Experience building production web applications and working within Agile development environments is highly desirable.
