Interim Corporate Controller - Mining (Public Company)

6-Month Contract | Toronto (4 days on-site, Mon-Thu) | Immediate Start

About the Company A dual-listed (NYSE/TSX) North American precious and base metals producer with operating mines and development projects across Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina. The company is entering an ambitious construction and growth phase, expanding operations, restarting projects, and undergoing a finance transformation including a new ERP implementation. This is a high-impact interim mandate supporting the CFO through a critical period.

The Opportunity The Interim Corporate Controller will own the corporate controllership function during a demanding stretch that includes Q3 reporting, a company-wide ERP go-live, and an interim SOX audit. This is a heads-down, hands-on role for a seasoned public company controller who can hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up. You'll bring stability and rigor to the reporting function while supporting a relatively new team through a period of significant change.

Key Deliverables

Financial Reporting (Primary)

- Own and deliver Q3 financial statements (US GAAP), including consolidation across ~35 entities




- Bring consolidation out of the current Excellent Plains Excel-based journal entry approach into a cleaner, more controlled process
- Deliver predictable, accurate, audit-ready reporting with minimal rework
- MD&A; and SEC reporting for a dual-listed US filer

SOX & Audit (Primary)

- Manage the interim SOX audit in alignment with the ERP implementation
- Support controls testing pre-ERP (tested baseline) and post-ERP (two months of live controls)
- Own the external auditor relationship and manage outstanding control matters

ERP Support (Secondary)

- Support the control side of the D365 F&O; implementation (go-live November 1)
- Controls design and testing tied to the new system
- Note: A dedicated internal PM leads the implementation, and the Nevada controller is finance lead. This role supports controls, not project management.

Team Leadership

- Provide hands-on coaching to a four-person corporate finance team (Manager of Financial Reporting, SFA, Senior Accountant, AP Clerk)
- Shift the team from siloed, heads-down work toward collaborative working sessions and holistic process mapping
- Distribute review responsibilities to develop the team (moving away from sole-reviewer bottleneck)
