The Department of Public Service Delivery is seeking qualified individuals to fill the Investigator position within the Public Guardian and Trustee Branch under Consumer Protection Division.
The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee of Manitoba (PGT) is a provincial government Special Operating Agency that manages the affairs of Manitobans who are unable to do so themselves and have no one else willing or able to act on their behalf. The PGT is an office of last resort and provides essential services to clients for who the PGT is appointed to act which includes individuals deemed mentally incompetent, vulnerable persons, deceased estates and children.
Duties
The Investigator is responsible for performing investigative functions to support the Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) in the management of client affairs. This includes (without limitation) field work, conducting searches, preparing detailed inventories, taking possession and control of movable items from a client’s premises, obtaining appraisals for personal property, arranging for the sale or disposal of personal property, conducting interviews with clients’ families, securing properties, and arranging property maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications
Essential
- Experience conducting investigations in order to identify/locate financial resources, documents and property.
- Experience working with people who have mental health issues, dementia or are vulnerable persons.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and effectively manage deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments and a variety ofstakeholders.
- Ability to work in various environments, including but not limited to unsanitary conditions, hoarding, and presence of rodents and/or insects
- Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Effective verbal communication skills to clearly and professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective written communication skills with experience drafting and editing correspondence or other communications.
- Proficiency working with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), or similar software applications.

Conditions of Employment
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Must possess a valid full class 5 Manitoba Driver’s licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba, which may include overnight stays.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Firearms license (non-restricted and/or restricted).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and work in a physically demanding environment.
