IT Cyber Security Consultant -L3 (12 month contract)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Consultant to support enterprise security initiatives through risk assessment, vulnerability management, security operations, compliance activities, incident response, and security architecture support. The successful candidate will help identify, assess, mitigate, and document cybersecurity risks while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and security reviews to identify potential threats and weaknesses.
- Monitor security events, threat intelligence, and security logs to identify and respond to potential cybersecurity risks and incidents.
- Analyze security testing results and recommend remediation strategies to reduce organizational risk.
- Validate security configurations and security controls across operating systems, applications, networks, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Support security incident response activities, including investigation, documentation, reporting, and post-incident analysis.
- Develop and maintain incident reports, security operations documentation, and security response procedures.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to define security requirements, review security designs, support testing activities, and ensure secure implementation of solutions.
- Participate in the transition of security solutions and technologies from projects into operational environments.
- Conduct compliance impact assessments and provide cybersecurity guidance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review security controls, event data, and security processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop and enhance threat detection use cases, monitoring capabilities, and cybersecurity analytics.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts,
service providers, and auditors to support compliance and audit readiness activities.
- Prepare reports, evidence packages, and supporting documentation for security and regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Information Technology, including at least 5 years focused on cybersecurity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for professional and technical environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, if required.

Preferred Certifications One or more of the following certifications is considered an asset:
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

- CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control)
- GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler)
- GPEN (GIAC Penetration Tester)
Additional Desired Experience
- Hands-on cybersecurity risk assessment experience.
- Practical penetration testing experience using tools such as:
- Kali Linux
- Tenable
- Burp Suite
- Web application testing tools
- Experience identifying vulnerabilities, validating findings, and recommending remediation strategies.
- Experience supporting security programs in large enterprise environments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple technical and business stakeholders.
Must-Have Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in cybersecurity.
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in a related field.
- Cybersecurity risk assessment experience.
- Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
