MHIRJ is the merging of two important heritages: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and the CRJ Series program. We provide comprehensive critical operational, engineering and customer support solutions including maintenance, refurbishment, technical publications, marketing and sales activities for the global regional aircraft industry. We’re looking for an IT Reporting Specialist to join our ranks!
Purpose of the role
MHIRJ is seeking a full time IT Reporting Specialist who is smart, curious, and loves the challenge of solving various types and levels of problems that improve people’s lives. You’ll collaborate with a fun and close-knit agile team.
The IT Reporting Specialist role plays a critical part in harmonizing reporting across business functions, establishing enterprise reporting standards, and translating complex data into executive level insights that drive strategic decision‑making. The successful candidate will move the organization beyond lagging indicators toward predictive and leading indicators aligned with top business objectives.
IT Reporting Specialist role is a highly visible role interfacing directly with senior business leaders, IT, and data platform teams and is instrumental in ensuring MHIRJ’s leaders have the right insights at the right time to make informed, forward-looking decisions. If you are passionate about transforming data into impact—and elevating reporting from dashboards to strategic guidance, we’d love to hear from you.
Unlike traditional BI developer roles focused on project-based delivery, IT Reporting Specialist role combines strategy as well as hands-on report development with ongoing operational ownership, ensuring reporting solutions remain accurate, reliable, and continuously supported in production.
Here are the daily responsibilities:
Enterprise Reporting Strategy & Execution
- Execute and evolve an enterprise reporting strategy using Databricks as the data foundation and Power BI as the primary visualization layer
- Design and deliver standardized, reusable reporting assets that ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability across MHIRJ
- Partner closely with IT and data platform teams to ensure alignment between ingestion, modeling, and reporting layers
Executive & Business Partnering
- Work directly with business and functional leaders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into clear, decision‑ready dashboards and reports
- Develop executive-level reporting that highlights trends, risks, opportunities, and leading indicators rather than purely historical views, while also strengthening operational reporting to support day-to-day activities and improve business value.
- Act as a trusted advisor,
helping leaders interpret insights and understand implications for business outcomes
Reporting Standards & Governance
- Define and enforce enterprise reporting standards (metrics definitions, visualization best practices, refresh cadence, performance expectations)
- Promote a single, trusted version of the truth through clear KPI definitions and governed datasets
- Support data literacy by guiding stakeholders on proper interpretation and usage of reports
Advanced Analytics & Insight Generation
- Move reporting beyond descriptive analytics toward diagnostic and predictive insights
- Identify patterns, anomalies, and early warning signals that support proactive decision‑making
- Continuously refine metrics to align with evolving business priorities
Continuous Improvement
- Gather feedback from stakeholders to improve usability, performance, and relevance of reports
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or retire low‑value reporting
- Contribute to the evolution of MHIRJ’s analytics and data maturity roadmap
Report Operations, Lifecycle & Support
- Design and build enterprise reports and datasets, then manage their end-to-end lifecycle including scheduling, refresh, validation, and distribution
- Monitor report execution, proactively identify failures, and ensure timely resolution to meet SLA commitments
- Provide L2/L3 support for reporting incidents, troubleshooting data, performance, and access issues
- Perform root cause analysis, document fixes, and implement preventive measures to improve stability
- Maintain reporting assets through version control, documentation, and controlled releases
Here is what is required to succeed:
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise reporting, business intelligence, or analytics roles
- Strong hands‑on expertise with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, dashboard design)
- Experience working with modern data platforms, preferably Databricks
- Demonstrated strong business acumen by translating reporting requirements into meaningful metrics that enabled clear, actionable insights for decision-making.
- Experience producing executive‑level reporting for senior leadership
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without authority
- Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complex data concepts for non‑technical audiences
- Experience working in complex, matrixed or regulated enterprise environments
- Exposure to product‑centric or platform‑based analytics operating models
- Familiarity with data governance, metric standardization, and reporting best practices
- Experience driving adoption of standardized reporting across multiple business units
Technical Skills (working or functional knowledge as an asset):
- Familiarity with Azure analytics stack (Power BI, Enterprise gateway MS Fabric), and enterprise BI practice.
- Familiar with Star Schema modeling (Fact & Dimension Tables, RLS, CLS, OLS, Slowly Changing Dimensions)
- Knowledge of Lakehouse platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.
- Proficiency with tools such as Azure DevOps, MS Visio, Planner / Project, and SharePoint.
- Experience with API calls.
- Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for application, data, or AI deployments
- Proven experience as a BI Specialist (ETL Developer)
- Strong experience with ELT/ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
- Experience working with data warehouses, data lakes, and business intelligence environments.
- Proficiency in SQL for writing and optimizing queries, procedures, and triggers.
- Advanced SQL development and optimization skills.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, Azure SQL, SSIS, ADF).
- Familiar with ETL for Star schemas, Cubes and Datalake concepts
- Understanding of enterprise gateways
- Familiarity with cloud-based data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse).
- Experience with support ticketing platforms such as: Service Now
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python, PowerShell, or .NET (optional, but a plus).
- Microsoft 365 Suite
