Work location: Cégep Vanier

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours per week)

Reporting to the Manager of Help Desk and User Experience, the IT User and System Support Technician provides assistance to Vanier College Information Technology Users and maintenance to technology systems. The technician is part of our frontline team responsible for service delivery to our community. The technical duties are related to the overall organization and operation of computer labs, computer networks, and associated software.

More specifically, but not limited to, the Technician:

- Is the main help desk technician for students and teachers at the N-215 IT Centre counter;
- Monitors students using the N-215 student lab computers;
- Manages student reservations for N-215A and N-215B study rooms;
- Troubleshoots classroom IT issues for students and teachers;
- Provides students support for Omnivox and Microsoft 365 access and MFA;
- Provides and sets up equipment for students for universal break events;
- Participates as required in the Help Desk and other college-wide information technology technical support services and/or coordinates the work of other support staff in these activities;
- Assumes responsibility for the overall operation of computers, networks, and associated software and equipment according to the College priorities and policies, and the standards and practices of information technology at the College;
- Monitors security of the physical facilities, network,



and computer/software of College departments;
- Monitors and evaluates current developments in the area of responsibility and makes recommendations for anticipated future requirements;
- Participates actively with their Supervisor in managing priorities in order to maximize service performance as per standards;
- Engages with the community using a service approach;
- Provides and maintains documentation for the equipment and services under their responsibility;
- Participates in the maintenance and upgrading of service processes and systems.

Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned. Classification: Technicien ou technicienne en informatique (Data Processing Technician) Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours per week) Contract: Until September 7, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent to their position. Qualifications:

- DEC in Computer Science or appropriate specialty, or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent

Conditions related to the specific position:

- Robust English oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
- Functional French oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
- Knowledge of Microsoft EUC (windows) and the configuration and installation of computers and computer labs (to be tested);
- Knowledge of Internet/Intranet services such as e-mail, web technologies, authentication, and security;
- Knowledge of network technologies, including: cabling, network protocols, configuration and maintenance of network servers, and network security;
- Knowledge of software packaging and deployment technologies (SCCM)
- Strong ability to work with users and find solutions to their computer and network related problems;
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other staff and network users;
- Knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office 365 is an asset;
- Knowledge and expertise in the educational sector is an asset.
