Junior Accountant – Job DescriptionPosition Summary
We are seeking a Junior Accountant with 3–5 years of relevant experience to oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger activities. The successful candidate will also support the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
A) Billing / Invoicing
B) Accounts Receivable Collections
C) Bank Deposits and AR Applications
D) Assisting the Controller with Annual Budgets, Forecasts, and Cash Flow Statements
Junior Accountant – Roles & Responsibilities
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile Accounts Receivable transactions.
- Prepare and process billing/invoices, as well as credit and debit notes for customers/clients.
- Maintain the rates module and ensure timely updates in accounting and operating software, including Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
- Produce accurate, error-free AR subledger and General Ledger reports and present findings/results as required.
- Assist with General Ledger functions and the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliations, and other accounting functions as required.
- Assist the Controller in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
- Perform AR collections and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are properly documented and recorded.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3–5 years of proven experience in a Junior Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages such as Outstanding Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP), ACCPAC, MAS 500, and/or QuickBooks.
- Solid understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and bank reconciliation processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: CAD $45,000–$50,000 per year, plus benefits package
Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation after completion of one full year of employment
Reports To: Assistant Controller
Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
