The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-Pass, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also supports an active community by organizing events and providing wellness and developmental programming.
As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.
Volunteer Schedule
Mandatory Training Session (1 Hour): Tuesday, September 15, 2026 or Thursday, September 17, 2026
Kickback 006 (4- 8 hours): Thursday, September 24, 2026

Volunteer Description
Are you keen to get involved on campus? Do you want to meet new people? The Student Union Society (SUS) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for our sixth (Yes, SIXTH) annual Kickback event!
Kickback is the largest event on campus and we are welcoming UFV students to volunteer to help with set-up, tear-down, registration, activity station support, crowd pump-up and helping attendees find their way around the event.
This is an excellent chance to practice your leadership skills, gain some volunteer experience in events, meet new friends, and above all else, have a excellent time!

Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties:
As a SUS Volunteer, there will be a variety of opportunities in different areas; these may include the following:
- Set-up: Assisting in set-up-related activities including signage, furniture, and equipment (must be able to lift up to 50lbs)
- Tear-down: Assisting in clean-up and tear-down during and after the event
- Registration and Booth Support: Registering event attendees and supporting the UFVSUS staff when necessary.
- Activity supervising: Support the smooth running of activities by providing instructions to students, managing line-ups, and promoting a fun atmosphere.
- Crowd control and people support: Welcome attendees and help them navigate the event by providing directional support, activity suggestions, etc., act as a crowd pumper, a photo-taker, and support other volunteers/UFVSUS staff as needed.
- Support justice, equity,
diversity, and inclusivity
- Adhere to UFV and SUS bylaws, policies, and procedures
Roles will be assigned by the SUS Services Coordinator based on availability, interest, and organizational needs. Volunteer shifts will vary throughout the day, with schedules provided in advance.
Qualifications
- Positive, high-energy personality & desire to interact with your fellow students
- Must be a UFV Student in Fall 2026 (September)
- Represent & adhere to SUS values on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI)
- Ability to work well with a diverse team and contribute to a collaborative, positive event environment.
- Previous event volunteer experience or interest in events is a plus, but not required.
- Availability on selected training date and event date (Thursday, September 24, 2026).
Term of Employment This is an event volunteer opportunity for Kickback, with two days of support. Applicants must be current students of UFV and take at least one course in the fall semester.
