We are currently seeking an experienced, versatile human resources professional to join our team as a Director of People and Talent. Reporting to the CEO, the incumbent independently provides a full range of HR services in all of the HR functional areas. This position is responsible for leading and managing HR initiatives to support Kraun Electric’s overall business strategy and to provide direction and leadership for all areas of Human Resources including strategic planning, recruitment and selection, organizational structure, performance management, total rewards strategies, employee relations, health and safety, etc.
This position is full-time and requires on-site attendance 5 days a week. Given the critical nature of the role and its close collaboration with the CEO and Executive Team, remote work is not possible at this time. We offer a very competitive compensation package, which includes:

Key Responsibilities
- The Director of People and Talent will serve as Kraun’s Senior People Leader, combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution across the full range of Human Resources.
- Participates in the Company’s strategic planning process; develops the Human Resources plan and executes the plan based upon the Company’s goals and objectives.
- Develops and leads Kraun’s leadership development strategy, including programs to strengthen the capabilities of emerging leaders across the organization. Kraun has an established commitment and budget for leadership development, including external expertise, training programs and off-site leadership development initiatives.
- Develops and executes strategies to improve employee engagement and retention, identifies root causes of regrettable turnover, and recommends measurable actions to improve retention.
- Develops strategies to strengthen Kraun’s employer brand, talent pipelines and ability to attract high-performing employees in difficult-to-recruit roles and markets.
- Partners with the CEO and Executive Team to reinforce Kraun’s SPARK values and translate the Company’s desired culture into formal practices and programs.
- Develops and maintains Company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Acts as the first point of contact for employee and manager questions regarding human resources challenges. Addresses all inquiries in a timely manner and escalates to the CEO when required. Responds to escalated employee inquiries and troubleshoots employee issues or concerns, ensuring optimum employee relations and engagement; mediates conflict between employees when required and advises on complaints requiring investigation and conducts or supports investigations as appropriate.
- Advises on disciplinary matters, termination packages, drafts termination letters, assists the Leadership Team with termination meetings, and conducts exit interviews.
- Assists with the preparation of the Company’s annual Human Resources budget and conducts regular reviews as required.
- Makes recommendations on and facilitates any change management strategies on significant Company-related initiatives that have an impact on employees.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices in Human Resources and related employment legislation. Advises leadership on compliance obligations and best practices related to all applicable legislation and works to minimize gaps between Human Resources policies and practices.
- Develops and maintains the Company’s recruitment strategy in collaboration with the Leadership Team; formalizes recruitment processes and coaches/trains managers on proper interviewing techniques.
- Responsible for full cycle recruitment, including posting job ads, screening resumes, conducting pre-screen phone calls and interviews, and completing reference checks.
- Provides ongoing support and coaching to hiring managers on recruitment processes, standards, and industry best practices. Develops new processes and supporting materials.
- Responsible for overseeing the apprenticeship and student employment programs in collaboration with the CEO.
- Develops, maintains, and facilitates the Company orientation and onboarding program. Works closely with the Leadership Team to develop specific onboarding initiatives.
- Manages employee files, training records, and all relevant documentation through the BambooHR HRIS system.
- Develops, organizes and facilitates Company training programs as required. Maintains training records and updates programs as required.
- Conducts the training needs/career development analysis process, develops the annual training plan, and presents it to the Leadership Team. Manages the execution of subsequent development plans.
- Develops and maintains a career ladder system and works with managers and employees to ensure that there is a developmental plan in place to support individual career progression.
- Manages the annual performance review process,
ensuring employees and managers are supported throughout. Provides coaching and support to managers on how to conduct effective performance management discussions.
- Manages and oversees the Company’s succession planning process in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
- Develops, implements, and maintains the Company’s total rewards program including but not limited to managing the formal compensation system, the bonus program, the group insurance perks, etc.
- Responsible for benefits administration, including HRIS and portal updates, addressing and resolving employee concerns, generates reports as required, and assists in dealing with brokers as necessary.
- Ensures that the Company’s pay equity plan is maintained on an ongoing basis.
- Provides leadership to the Health & Safety Specialist in all areas of health and safety to support them in ensuring the Company is in compliance with all related Health and Safety legislation.
- Prepares, presents, and analyzes Human Resources specific metrics results and statistics. Makes recommendations as it relates to the metrics.
- Assists in organizing and executing company events, including social activities and milestone recognition programs.
Key Qualifications and Skills Required
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of senior HR experience and credentials.
- A minimum of 10 years of human resources management experience with a proven track record of operating at the strategic level.
- Must be able to travel to Kraun worksites as required to provide on-site HR support.
- Advanced working knowledge of all employment legislation in Ontario.
- Must have strong demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills; be driven and determined to achieve human resources and organizational goals.
- Must be able to think strategically and creatively and then take a hands-on execution approach.
- Must demonstrate an alignment with Kraun’s SPARK core values.
- Must have proven success in all HR areas such as strategic planning, organizational structure, employee relations, etc.
- Must adhere to qualified, regulatory and industry standards.
- Demonstrated interpersonal savvy with the ability to build strong relationships and adapt to all levels within the organization.
- Proactive, takes ownership of actions, and demonstrates strong initiative.
