Job Title: Maintenance and Engineering Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Job Location: Ecotex Mississauga Plant

Summary of Position:
Responsible for the safety, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of plant facilities and its infrastructure, leading capital projects, to ensure maximum productivity, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Provide effective leadership and create a customer-centric culture to make the overall organization more productive.
Promote
Interdepartmental collaboration with other areas of the company. Promote sharing of knowledge and resources and align the efforts of different teams towards common organizational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Directs all maintenance and engineering activities including implementing and monitoring preventative maintenance and PM programs.
· Ensures that all equipment is maintained / repaired.
· Leads capital projects from conception to start up and commissioning on all equipment modifications, additions, and repair projects in the plant.
· Leads the facilities planning process for continuous improvement of the plant facilities along with the plant multi-functional team.
· Initiates / leads projects that will improve efficiency and/ or reduce operating costs.
· Preparing reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations to improve plant operations and solving maintenance related problems.
· Supervises and directs the scheduling of hourly and salaried personnel assigned to the maintenance and labor functions including skilled journeyman performing mechanical, electrical maintenance and repairs.
· Monitors the use and inventory of spare parts, supplies and equipment. Reviews and authorizes replacement / reordering of supplies. Responsible for proper operation and accuracy of Critical Parts List.
· Directs the environmental activities associated with areas such as air, water, solid waste, and complies with appropriate governmental agencies.
· Assists in the establishment of a safe and healthy environment throughout the facilities, always striving for zero accidents and complying with governmental regulations.
· Ensures maintenance department personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated.
· Initiates cross training and additional technical training for maintenance technicians.
· Communicates regularly with maintenance team members on all matters related to maintenance and maintenance department issues.
· Participates in hiring process of maintenance team members.
· Ensures maintenance department team members are trained on most updated version of equipment and system operating procedures.
· Reviews the operations of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime and looks for improvement opportunities.
· Manages the maintenance budget by efficient use of parts, in-house resources, and contracted services.
· Communicates directly with plant operations and other departments to coordinate any maintenance and repair work.
· Works in partnership with the Compliance/ Quality Manager to ensure the maintenance department is in compliance with all Quality policies, procedures, and standards.
· Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department including establishing effective working relationships with plant employees, the union,
other departments, and corporations.
· Assists with planning and implementation of plant improvements and expansions.
· Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
· Minimum 10 years’ maintenance experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience with design and managing engineering projects is required.
· Experience with rotating equipment (pumps, motors, compressors, fans, and blowers, etc.), steam boilers, hydraulics is preferred.
· Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking skills and must be capable of thinking outside of the box.
· Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and reduction of downtime is an asset.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with a cross functional maintenance team and other departments in the plant.
· Ability to visualize and reorganize workspace and skilled resources to optimize effectiveness.
· Proven capability to assess and execute organizational changes quickly and objectively.
· Ability to swiftly adapt to and improve existing projects and workflows.
· Familiarity with OHS standards and regulations.
· Experience with CMMS for maintenance management.
· Capacity to respond effectively to emergencies, maintaining order and safety.
· Competence in office procedures and proven computer literacy.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
