PRA Group Canada is recruiting to fill a vacancy for a Paralegal with a compensation range of $50,000 - $60,000 annually.What you will do:This role reports directly to the Manager of Legal Support Administration and supports the daily operations of the Legal Department. The Paralegal will be responsible to manage an individual file load, appear in court when required, as well as complete tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Manager. This role is responsible to be aware of and comply with all relevant legislation, information security best practices, and company policies.Specific responsibilities include:Preparing files for legal actions (i.E. Plaintiff Claims)Managing and working an active legal queueDrafting small claims court documents (i.E. affidavits, default judgments, garnishments, liens, motions, letters, follow-up, etc.)



Preparing documentation for court hearings Assisting in the recovery of legal accounts through negotiation with defendants and/or opposing legal representativesRepresenting the company in court proceedingsMeeting all claim process deadlinesAttending telephone settlement conferences as neededWorking closely with various agents and court officesSupplying daily updates of file statusProviding support to the team of Law ClerksAttending meetings and trainings as requiredStaying current with legislation and legal processes related to our businessProviding insight and recommendations to management on legal and recovery strategiesWhat you will bring:Paralegal designationTwo years of experience in a legal environmentUnderstanding of the Ontario Small Claims processProficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent communications skills, both verbal and writtenStrong attention to detail and accuracyStrong negotiation skillsStrong organizational and decision-making abilitiesAbility to pass a criminal background checkHere’s what sets us apart:PRA Group Canada values its employees and offers innovative programs that promote teamwork, positive morale, and employee recognition.
