: The Mental Health Nurse Coordinator, under the direction of the Urgent Care/Matrix Management Team and as part of the interdisciplinary Urgent Care Centre (UCC) team, is to provide a complex range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to the community mental health and addictions population seen at the UCC. The incumbent provides program consultation and co-ordination, evaluation of clinical interventions, supervision, and provides professional and public education regarding mental health and addiction issues and resources. The incumbent will provide nursing leadership and clinical expertise in the development and maintenance of, community mental health and addiction treatment programs and ensure nursing practice standards are maintained.

Experience
- 3+ years experience (last 5) in inpatient or community mental health/addictions
- Expert in assess.,diagnosis &treatment; of major mental health & addiction issues

Education

- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing

Other Education and Training

- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)

- Excellent knowledge and skills related to community psychiatric nursing practice
- Ability to formulate evidence-based intervention based on clinical presentation
- Ability to provide public presentation and professional training.
- Knowledge of Recovery orientated systems of care & trauma informed practice
- Understanding of how concurrent disorders impact the lives of individuals
- Work collaboratively w/ a multidisciplinary team & other agencies in the commnty
- Understanding and knowledge of the needs of ppl w/ mental health/addictions
- Knowledge & skills related to inpatient & community psychiatric nursing practice

- Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions
- Able to assess and respond effectively to aggressive behaviour and/or self-harm
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- Able to work independently in a self motivated manner & respond under pressure
- Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
- Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders
- Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act
- Knowledge of psychiatric/psychosocial/addictions intervention & treatment models
- Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation and its impact on working w/ individuals
- Knowledge of assessment, triage, treatment and case management.




- Able to provide treatment planning for individuals w/ mental health/addictions
- Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner.

- Registered/eligible to be registered with RPNAS (Reg Psych Nurses Assoc of Sask)
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
