Role Description The Counsellor/Psychologist will provide individual counselling services to youth and adults in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area in a full-time, on-site capacity. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-informed therapeutic interventions. The role involves maintaining accurate and confidential clinical records, monitoring client progress, and adjusting interventions as needed.
The Counsellor/Psychologist will also collaborate with community resources or other professionals when appropriate, participate in case discussions, and contribute to a supportive, client-centered practice environment. Administrative tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and adherence to qualified and ethical standards are integral to this position.
Qualifications
- Formal training in counselling or psychology, with a master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Active or eligible registration with a relevant professional college or association (e.g., Registered Psychologist, Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker) in Alberta.
- Experience providing counselling to youth and adults in areas such as career development, educational planning, relationships, and lifestyle changes.
- Proficiency in evidence-informed therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, solution-focused, narrative, mindfulness-based, or creative/experiential modalities).
- Strong skills in intake assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse clients.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain thorough, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation.
- Comfort working in an on-site setting, with strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and trauma-informed, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory care.
- Experience collaborating with schools, community organizations, or healthcare providers is an asset.
- Availability to work full time, with flexibility for client scheduling as required.
