Our team embraces a flexible hybrid work model: a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, and up to 2 days per week from home. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Director, Investment Attraction, the Advisor plays a hands‑on role in helping Toronto Global bring world‑class international companies to the Toronto Region. This is a business development focused role at the intersection of outreach, market intelligence, and client advisory. As an Advisor, you will proactively pursue global companies and support them in every stage of their journey, from first contact to final decision.
This position will support the respective market team (Americas, Europe, or Indo‑Pacific) in identifying potential targets for expansion to the Toronto Region, conduct research on companies and sectors, maintain relationships and CRM data, and assist with preparation for business meetings. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is self‑motivated and energized by relationship‑building, international business, and delivering impact that shapes real investment outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Proactively support lead generation and qualification efforts by identifying, researching, and prioritizing target companies within assigned global market Conduct high‑quality, targeted outreach and follow‑up to build relationships with prospective international clients Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records in Salesforce, tracking activity and progress across the sales cycle Respond to client information requests with clear, tailored, and value‑added insights Produce research and analysis using tools such as PitchBook, Sales Navigator, Salary Assessor, and other third‑party platforms to inform client discussions and recommendations Support in‑market missions, international engagements, and local business events to strengthen networks and market presence Shadow senior team members to refine pitching, storytelling, and advisory approaches tailored to assigned geographic market and applicable sector Collaborate closely with Marketing & Communications and Business Insights teams to ensure alignment on messaging, data, and client needs Continuously deepen knowledge of the Toronto Region’s value proposition, sector strengths, and competitive advantages. DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Business, Commerce, or a related field; Masters’ degree considered an asset Minimum 3+ years of relevant skilled experience Prior exposure to, or knowledge of the Economic Development ecosystem, lead generation and prospecting, business development,
or international business Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and other relevant tools such as Apollo, Pitchbook, Sales Navigator, Salary Assessor, or similar Demonstrated sales skills and the confidence to engage and influence others, including high‑level executives and business leaders Ability to create clear, polished, and visually compelling materials aligned with brand guidelines Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and partners Sound judgement, business acumen, and a results‑oriented mindset tied to KPIs Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Passion for the Toronto Region and knowledge of the global economic and business climate is a must.
