Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in a role focused on both Occupational Therapy assessments and treatment.

The successful candidate will provide Occupational Therapy services to individuals with a range of presentations, with a particular focus on concussion, acquired/traumatic brain injury, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic injuries, chronic pain, and individuals recovering from Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs).

The role will include clinic-based and virtual assessments and treatment, including Motor Vehicle Accident assessments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with physicians, allied health professionals, insurers/adjustors and other stakeholders involved in a patient's rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.

- Complete Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) assessments, including virtual assessments and clinic-based assessments as appropriate.

- Assess functional abilities, occupational performance, activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), cognition and barriers to participation.





- Provide evidence-informed Occupational Therapy treatment for individuals experiencing concussion, brain injury, orthopaedic injury, chronic pain and other functional limitations.

- Develop meaningful, patient-centred goals and interventions based on each individual's needs, abilities and environment.

- Provide education and recommendations regarding activity modification, energy conservation, cognitive strategies, adaptive equipment and environmental modifications where appropriate.

- Support patients in improving independence and safely returning to meaningful daily, social and vocational activities.

- Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

- Communicate effectively with patients, families, other healthcare providers, insurers/adjustors and legal representatives when required.

- Complete clinical documentation, assessment reports, treatment notes and other required reports in a timely and skilled manner.

- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical findings and response to intervention.

- Maintain familiarity with HCAI processes and documentation requirements and work effectively within applicable insurer/payor parameters.

- Provide recommendations that maximize patient outcomes while considering available resources and funding limitations.

- Maintain professional standards, confidentiality and compliance with applicable legislation, including PHIPA and FIPPA.

Qualifications & Experience

- Master's degree or equivalent skilled education in Occupational Therapy.

- Current registration and good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).





- Experience working with individuals with concussion, brain injury, orthopaedic injury and/or chronic pain.

- Experience completing functional or rehabilitation assessments is strongly preferred.

- Experience with Motor Vehicle Accident assessments and HCAI is considered a strong asset.

- Experience in outpatient rehabilitation or virtual care is an asset.

- Strong clinical reasoning and ability to develop individualized treatment plans.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Excellent organizational, documentation and time-management skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish trust and rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds and age groups.

- Demonstrated judgment, sensitivity, flexibility, discretion and resourcefulness.
